How often do you request refunds for Steam purchases?

Very rarely, that I remember only these. Maybe missed some idk.
Chrono Trigger. Bought as soon as it was released, was disappointed in the mobile port.
Final Fantasy XII. The very next day was -50% off.
Mega Man X legacy Collection. I just felt like refunding it.

I bought Biomutant around launch and refunded it because it was more combat focused than I expected and the combat was unappealing, partially due to poor sound design. I think they fixed some stuff but I didn't repurchase because I was so disappointed by the first impression I got and I didn't know if I could get a second refund after playing for nearly 2 hours the first time.

ive used it during sales alot. Its very usefull to try out games.
Most of the time I refund when the game has some glaring issues. Be it gameplay wise or monetization wise.
And ofcourse the performance of the game.

I think I've only requested a refund once, but I buy 99% of my games from Humble or Fanatical.

Only did for 3 games this past winter sale because I took some risks. That's the only time I ever did it. Even 49cents was too much for that trash.

Only time I did a refund on a game was due to performance issues. Game was stuttering everywhere no matter what I tried and spent 3 ingame hours just trying to fix it which is past their 2 hour policy, they did however still refund me.
Otherwise I only purchase games when i really want them so very unlikely to be needing a refund.

Some years ago when I was still in high school I used refund quite much. As I didn't have a job, I had to be careful on what do I want to buy, so most of the time I bought multiple games at bigger sales and tried them out immediately, so that if one wasn't like I imagined I could swap it for another game.
Since then I think I refunded maybe once or twice. I never go blindly into a game so I know what will I get - the only question is how much am I willing to spend on games :D

I only refunded a couple games. Willy-Nilly Knight and Rust weren't what I expected at the time (I'd probably re-buy Rust if it goes half off again now). I also refunded Beat Saber because it wasn't working proper for me, but bought it again a few months later and I'm glad I did.

I usually refund if the game is appeared to be not what I expected which is rarely. A couple of time I refunded because the game went on better discount. And my last refund was Isonzo but it was an exception. The game was superb but since as a fan of the series I suspected that it might not surpass its predecessors, playerbase-wise. I compared Verdun's, Tannenberg's and Isonzo's first 2 weeks after release and it wasn't better and I knew the game born dead so I refunded.

1 Time I bought a DLC that was on a special discount for people that already owned the base game, 1 day later it got a special discount for everyone which was cheaper so I refunded the DLC and explained why and Steam accepted it.
Also did a few refunds on games I thought I would enjoy but just didn't, but that didn't happen very often.

I don't buy a lot on Steam, but I generally try out the games I buy to make sure I like them, within the 2 week refund period.
Surprisingly, I've refunded a lot more than I would have expected, because a lot of games are honestly not as good or as fun as they appear. This is why I think game demos are still relevant. Here's the few in the last year:
9 Monkeys of Shaolin - I quite liked the previous game from them, but the change of combat and stuff in this made it unenjoyable right from the first 20 minutes of play.
The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker - again, I've played a couple of this studio's previous titles, and enjoyed them. This one, not at all - it's convoluted and confusing, and what I could tell it seemed like it was building up to a massive cliché. It's a bit like Her Story, which I also didn't like that much, even though people raved about it.
Haunt the House: Terrortown - yeah, I only picked this up on a whim, again, it was because I had played another game from this publisher.
Moral of the story: Just because you like a particular game or games from a publisher or developer, don't expect to like any others.

goat simulator. i had all the fun i could with that game in under 2 hrs so i figured what the fuck, might as well. it was good for a laugh but i knew when i closed the game it would be the last time i played it. other then that i know i have returned other games but i guess they were so bad i dont remember what they were. i know i tryed to return final fantasy type zero but i passed the 2 hr mark and they wouldnt let me, i tryed to appeal saying its not my fault i had to sit through 2 hrs of cuts scenes just to find out what a shit lazy grindy game it is.

The only one I can remember was DJMax, I don't remember if it was Respect V or the previous version: the full bundle with DLC was quite costly even after a hefty discount (around 100€ ?) but I like rhythm games and remember I use to play an earlier version on my PSP. After it installed the UI/user experience was ATROCIOUS, it looked like a poorly developed flash/web game. I try a couple of songs and they are all sounding the same fast euro beat, you couldn't even remap the keys... Then I learned an online connexion was always needed and it was a game as a service i.e. when they shut up the servers everything is gone, no offline mode.
I said NO WAY! and asked for a refund

How frequently do you find yourself asking for a refund after making a purchase on Steam? If you've requested one in the past, what was the reason for it (e.g. Did the game not work on your system? Was the gameplay not what you expected?). I can't say I've personally used the feature, but it's certainly a nice option to have as a consumer, and I'm wondering how often people are putting it to use.
