Ni No Kuni is one of my favorite games. The story grows more compelling as you advance, and the combat improves as more options are added (which is standard with JRPG's).

i'll give a very high vote to gundam extreme vS, it's my favorite game for PS3. It's a fighting game using gundam franchise. it has about 30h of SP content, multiplayer and an arcade mode which can (and should be) played in COOP mode.
i'd also like to recomend dynasty warriors 7/8 and the tales of games (like tales of vesperia , tales of graces,etc). Sonic all stars transformed is also an awesome game for co-op, it has a "campaign" with 4 dificulties, grand prix mode, time trials and single races.
If you don't know any of the titles i can write a bit more about them. For me those were the greatest time sinks in local co-op. all of them probably around 100 hours (with the exception of sonic which i'm still playing)
