I bought some games keys here(games on Origin) on a seller involving some dota/tf keys and he was pretty legit. 100+ reps and all that. I did go first and he followed up with the key as the trade was done. I've done 3 trades with him so far.

However i'm still quite paranoid because I traded him dota/tf keys and he gave me a game code that is valid for now but I don't know in the future if it will be revoked, and I feel a little uncomfortable. I know it's a risk but I just wanted to make myself more comfortable by asking this question

so generally when can you say that the item I bought is pretty much safe from chargebacks or frauds and such? how long till the bank can't do refunds anymore? and more so, anyone here who had experienced buying an Origin game key from someone on the net(not humble bundles), activating it and playing it, and then the game disappearing weeks or months later?

So far it's been 2 weeks since I bought the game and I pretty much play it often, no problems at all. and I just bought one more recently.

I've been looking at his rep comments and it seems that he was doing this for around 6 months already selling game keys and so far everyone is quiet playing their games yet. So guys what do you think?

I think if you find where that person lives, sit outside his house for a few months and sort of glance through their windows at night you'll get a good feeling on how safe you are. Check back frequently and if possible, hire a private investigator.

You're fine.

When I send people game codes and I give them a year to redeem them. If they aren't redeemed (and they didn't pay me a lot more than I paid for the code) I'll redeem it myself. But honestly, if you're holding onto a code for over a year and you never use it, you had it coming.

EDIT: I usually sell codes for 25 to 75 percent cheaper than the steam client, I usually only make a few dollars for each code, sometimes I make only 40 cents.

I've been holding on to some codes for over a year (not obtained through trading though) so I guess I'll just never trade with you

They're not your codes once you trade them over.

You can't be safe unless the trader is alive. But there is a way. You have to find his real name and photo, then you can write his name into your Death Note.
Well, at least that's how it working for me.

With all those scammers, hackers, carders and what not you just can't be safe. Trading is always a risk and it always will be.

I had FIFA 14 disappear from my Origin account after 2 weeks, but the guy who I traded for it gave me back my tf2 keys, said he bought the game from an Asian site and he didn't seem too surprised it got revoked from my Origin account.

anyway, always keep screenshots of high value trades in case something like this happens to you.
