I can confirm it DOES work if you DON'T have the Humble Bundle Control version. The Humble Bundle version doesn't register as a true Control Ultimate Edition but rather a Standard Edition which isn't available anymore.

Great game if you like lots of dialogue and world-building. IMO it's more of an adventure game with some character progression and skill checks. Watch some videos maybe to see if it's something you're into, but I highly recommend it, the writing is top notch.

The only solution is to delete control from your library since you activate the base game from HB choice + DLC which gives ultimate but doesn't count as an "ultimate purchase" if you know what I mean.
Buying it new is the only solution so it counts a "owning ultimate" and not bug out
