I think that's what I'll do, I just looked it up and he's not in the contest anymore.

Report him on Playblink, I'm sure they will ban him or atleast take him out of the contest :)

Yeah, I think I'll be blocking him. I just sucks that I noticed a nice guy I've traded with a few times uses it, I could have reffed his.

I just never trust anyone I don't know asking for stuff like that by default. How will I know if I can really trust him?
Although, I guess you didn't lose anything but a few minutes of your time, so unless there's a rule on Playblink that says you can't offer people stuff for registering, I'd just let it go and pray for the gods the bad Karma doesn't let him win.

Luckily this is one of my only bad experiences with Steam trading in the 6 or so months I've been here. I've had a guy scam a key out of me, a guy back out after I bought him something, and a few rude people and beggars, but that's it. :)

I suppose you can report him to Playblink, but there's nothing really to do except out him on Playblink and various Steam-related sites that won't ban you for something silly such as protecting other people.

It looks like he's at least out of the contest on Playblink. He had 7 refferals when I last saw his account and now he's off the top 30 with the lowest having 4. I heard Steam Rep doesn't even investigate key related stuff, what's their job now? Doesn't almost every scam involve keys?

Did he have picture of a black and white male angel on his profile?
Same thing happened to me yesterday. The guy had a steamgifts account too when I looked him up.
Plus he kept on ending his sentences with :) emoticon to come across as a nice guy.

Yeah, I guess that's a positive. I just kind of figured this was legit, he was offering kind of bundled AAAs and there's a $50 Steam gift prize for the contest so I thought he was just being generous.

lol he did the same thing to me, luckily i said i wasn't interested

Same guy last night, I think. Forgot the user name, which was the same on Steam and Steamgifts, but started with "Ma" or something.

Ahhh ... that must be it. I've conveniently forgotten the name now, but if I saw it in its entirety, I'd recognize it. Given it's pretty clear he added people from Steamgifts, wonder if we can get the fucker permabanned for trying to work the community.

If you'd like I can add you and give it to you.I wouldn't know how to get the ball rolling, but I'd support getting rid of people who lie to people and try to cheat the system.

I know, the guy has over 300 games, so at that point it feels just greedy.

On a bit of a semi-related note: A guy on DLP is doing this, anything he wins from it will be in Christmas giveaways.

I'd check with a mod before posting that, referrals normally aren't allowed.

Oh sorry, I wasn't sure. Just don't want to see you get suspended, that's all. :)

We also have a community on Fanfiction.net. The largest HP community they have, over 3,500 followers. :3
Lots of great fanfics reviewed and voted on by people on the DLP forums.

I had someone add me about playblink the other day as well. They were in a few steamgifts related groups so I accepted the add.
Tries to get me to click one of those goo.gle links, I then checked and saw they didn't have an SG account.
Getting impatient, they posted the actual ref link, I told them I wasn't interested and removed them.
They had a different avatar and no sg account though, so unless they made one since then, I guess it was different person, but now I know what they wanted.

That sounds like a different person. I saw people in the chat part of Playblink talking about a guy higher in the competition than him doing it, so it might be a bit widespread there.

I don't know what to do in this case. Here's the scoop.
A guy randomly added me yesterday and asked for help with something. He wanted me to use his Playblink refferal for some contest they're doing, and he said he'd give me a key for Sleeping Dogs. My scam radar didn't really go off, I know Sleeping Dogs was on some German site for a buck or two and he was really polite. I register a account, and told him that he can take a couple minutes to make sure it registered before he gave me the key. A few messages to him later an hour had gone by and I had to leave, so I told him to contact me and copied and pasted the chat.
I checked back today and he's defriended me. Not really sure what to do. The guy's been around for 3 years and didn't really steal anything. On the other hand he shouldn't win the contest if he's doing this and now I'm in one more Steam thing that I don't care about. What do you guys think?
