You raise a good point and did well to contact Support. Their intervention is indeed required, otherwise you will have an unactivated win in your account (since you have the win on SG but your Steam no longer has the game in it). A crappy situation indeed.

OmegaRosenkreuz raised a relevant question. Everyone that has won the game here on SG but has had the key revoked should contact Support... for all intents and purposes, they will now have an unactivated win in their account (they still have the win on SG, but Steam no longer has the game in it).
Support could act by deleting the GA entries, but that will mean the creator loses the respective CV (assuming it gave any, from the other posts it seems it may have been given away freely).

Yes, it wouldn't be a good solution either. Plus, it would have the added penalty of forcing the GA creators to acquire the game to fulfill their giveaway (which technically they had already done, by delivering a key that worked).
On SteamGifts, the shady practices of bad devs hinder both the GA creators and the respective winners.

My copy got revoked too. Seen in some reviews on Steam that even newly bought copies are revoked, dunno if true.

It appears that Steam stepped in and the game has been re-added back to some accounts. Not sure if everyone is going to get it back or not but it returned to mine. Reddit has also caught on to it now.

My key from DIG wasn't revoked while others who got their key also from DIG had their key revoked.
