Steam and game languages

I only play Russian games in Russian (and it's horrendous more often than not, by the way), there's English for everything else. Russian Steam site is mostly ok.

Everything for what concerns my native tongue's Steam pages, apps, clients and whatever else goes from ridiculous to incomprehensible and puzzling, so I thought it would be a nice idea to include these texts in my reviews since they're so funny and misleading most of the times.
I really don't know who is responsible for the Italian localizations of anything Steam/Valve-related but all in all the funny part is always greater than the annoying part, so I keep everything most of the times in Italian just to have some fun.. anyways I always play in English since 9 games over 10 translated into Italian suck so bad that it's impossible to write something about, and I'm not talking only about indie games..
My guess is that they take the Japanese game, they get an English translation and they throw it somewhere in Milan to some obscure company accustomed to translate financial or scientific texts and let them do all the work. This is my only explanation for the whole Final Fantasy monster/items/places etc. translations from the first games to the latest ones =P (and yeah, just try to search an Italian-translated monster on an English-language website.. =P)

My language is not supported nor it will be in the next 10 years probably, so I'm just using English for gaming ever since I was a wee lad or whatever.

I just never bothered changing Steam from my native language and it can get pretty wonky on the website. Like when a FAQ for a new event releases for example, some questions will be in Swedish and others in English, and the constant switching between languages kind of spreads throughout the whole website. The translations are okay for the most part but I've seen a few subtle grammatical errors.

In-game, games never really get localized to Swedish so I'm used to only playing in English. So, when a game decides to force Swedish onto me with no options to change the language, it's very annyoing. :/

As good as your english though

Ever since Steam splitted Spanish into Spain and Latin-America the sotore has occasionally warned me that a certain game isn't available in my preferred languages despite me having selected both variants and English in the settings.
And yes, some of the blurbs on the store are close to random words tossed together rather than actual sentences. Is it too hard to just offer a free key to someone who is native in the language in exchage for a decent, human-made translation for the store page instead of the word salad that an automatic transaltion pukes. And that's for indies, it just boggles the mind when a game with a proper budget behind just completely messes up, like, why not hire someone to do that stuff?
Another thing that pisses me off are AAA games that just do the bare minimum when it comes to the language options, just one single option outside the frigging game itself (on steam's end) and that's it. Why not giving me the option to select one language for audio and another one for text? It can't be that hard to implement. Heck if it was for me it'd be standard to have audio, subtitles, in-game text, and menues as separate options. There's games out there that allow you to do that stuff like Brütal Legend (if I'm remembering correctly).

For polish everything is fine.

Only some shity games have descriptions made by google translate but it is the developers who don't have money to create good games or to hire people with any skills in anything.

One of my computers has steam client in french and it seems OK to me. I'm using english most of the time, it's not my native language but I'm comfortable reading it.

I'm Portuguese, but never used Steam in any language other than English, so I have no clue if it's any good or not ^^

I use English over German because it makes things easier, especially googling for issues or discussing features. Not just on steam but pretty much anywhere haha.
