Don't even want to imagine sth like this happens to me.. :/

Very true. That can be an issue. A lot of wealthy businesses and people simply win because they drag things out and the losing side just runs out of money. Some lawyers will fight for you if they feel the case is winnable..but I personally think this is a stressful road to take. It is possible that once EA find that the mistake they have made is quite clear to lots of parties and is becoming more public they may decide to make restitution (to make the mess they made go away).

I think in this case, the consumer court will favor the customer because this is a clear violation of customer's basic rights, besides they're not giving the acknowledgement that's the end user is entitled, moreover i think that the customer should as a compensation of around $50000 (20 lakhs in INR) in case he wins, which he'll definitely win, as YAHOO and other sources could be verified, in addition to this the purchases can be linked to the BANK STATEMENT which cannot be forged at all.
So overall i think the customer should wait for 1 day at most and then he should file an online fraud complain with the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India. Which can later turned upto declining license to sell within INDIA.
And if that happens, then it means at least 10% of deduction of it's OVERSEAS sales for sure.

The EA's Community Manager already contacted him about it, hopefully they restore it now.

Good to hear that, but it's scary that guy with a legitimate account full of expensive purchases, account that probably wasn't hacked has so much difficulty to receive proper customer support treatment. And it's probably only because he's semi famous in his country and luckily got the case escalated on Reddit.

Well, i agree to the part mentioned in the OP that EA customer support changes the TICKEY heading and contents according to their requirement, i even reached out to them regarding the same with the proofs, why is this happening and all, but they respond " You should activate 2FA in your account" and that happened too after that.
Point to be noted is that EA's chat support do consists pricks from my country (Yeah i do call them pricks, because they really are) which is same as the person mentioned in the OP.
I really liked to support them but the way they manage things, and so less transparency is actually make me unsure, but still i trusted them and purchased two hefty games this summer sale.
I hope that my fellow brother will receive all the games, but to be honest, i really want him to file suit against EA, because this time, EA won't stand a chance... and in INDIA, the laws will kill the companies under the case of customer fraud/misconduct.

That's a scary thought.
If something like that happened to a more "everyday person" like you or me, I wonder if any support would have been granted at all.
What's the point in having customer service, if even basic records such as these don't exist for customers who have been legitimately supporting you for years? And then wouldn't normal folk be more incentivised to pirate games seeing as situations like these can happen even if you do things the legit way?

guess he has to buy his own account as a DLC to origin ^^

I seriously doubt that EA deleted his account, why should any company do that to one of their better customers and risk negative press?
Far more likely is that someone else had access and deleted it. Heck, it's even more likely he has a kid who fooled around and can't undo the damage. I've seen it often enough how people blame companies for their own failures.
Besides that, I'd feel much safer though if we had the option to flag our accounts "indelible" by choice. It should be possible to surrender our right to delete accounts or it should at least be possible to secure some very essential information, as the purchases in a digital store.

wow... this is damn scary and puts int perspective how little control we have over our "own" online library's. I have over thousands of dollars for both Origin and Steam. Over 1500 games on steam and I can't imagine if one day my Steam account or Origin account was gone. I would probably cry if they gave me this answer...

At least Steam is much more secured than Origin, if only you haven't gifted your password without Steam guard.

Question for knowledgeable folks: isn't this one of the bitter side effects of the new GDPR privacy policies? For example, suppose I ask SG to delete my account -- aren't they supposed to eradicate any trace of my existance here? So, if anyone manages to delete my account without my consent, or if an error happens from SG's side, there would be nothing they could do to recover my account.
If they DID recover it, then they would be blamed for retaining my personal info or something.... No?
I have no idea of what I am talking about, so please feel free to correct me.

The thing is, they should have an acknowledgement as an EMAIL or something so that in cases like these, they can represent it directly, which they didn't.
And even if they deleted the account, it's impossible to delete the sales records, that would be foolish.

If he file a lawsuit, he need only 3 things to prove his point.
An email from EA that he's purchased the game. and that should be verified by YAHOO/GMAIL that the email they received was from EA or EA server, which they easily can.
He should contact his bank and can ask for specific details using the TRANSACTION NUMBER or the BILLED AMOUNT, and also can confirm where the money actually went, but in that case he need to make a police complaint regarding the same and also a request to the IT cell.
Last but not the least, a copy where the customer care executive misconducted / behaved inappropriately. So in that case he can definitely ask EA a compensation upto $50000 [20 LAKHS INR]
Disclaimer - I know these things, because something like this already happened here, but EA didn't knew that the gamer's father was a well established lawyer, and he dragged them in the court, and later demanded a compensation of $15000

So EA is resorting to stealing money from people now. I know now to NEVER purchase anything published by EA. And I thought of getting the dragon age pack with all games. I hope everyone is smart enough to NEVER purchase any game published by EA as well. Let them bankrupt.

Reading through in reddit and looking at other cases in there seems like I need to take notes order id, date, etc. of whatever purchase I've ever made anywhere digitally in REAL papers manually for additional proof in case something happen

I keep a list of all my Origin games on Gist. I haven't lost any, but at least I know I haven't lost any.

I don't know, I have a feeling that if it was battle.net, then most of the messages would be along the line of: "Oh, man, what a bummer, totally sucks for you, what a shame. I am sure it was just some honest mistake from their side and I hope it will be cleared up! Damn, how unlucky."

Man that's infuriating. The fact that the guy even has receipts from his purchases and he still gets an "o well" from the support? I hope somewhere in this mess and how much it's blown up (hopefully continues even more so) that he's able to get compensation, but looking at how many others it's happened to...just so gross.
And like someone said in the comments who also had that happen, in less than 48 hours everything was changed and unable to be recovered. You shouldn't have to log-in every day/religiously check your e-mails, paranoid that something will happen to your account.

I've heard enough horror stories like this about Origin over the years to never have an account. EA actually makes some games I like on consoles, but on PC it just seems too risky to buy any of their products (at least any that require Origin).
Comment has been collapsed.
Wait! Oh, shiii..... [run to check Origin account].
Well, there is no something unusual in this case. Just because of some bug, account of this guy was deleted from EA database. Yes, shit happens. May be it's very rare bug, and it's impossible to find it. Or too hard. That's why I keep all my checks in paper.

The only reason I have an Origin account was for Battlefield 3 and 4. The only other Origin game I payed for was Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition, and I bought the key from Amazon for $5. I haven't played BF3/4 in years and I haven't played DA:O yet, and ended up buying it on GOG so I wouldn't need Origin anymore. The only other games on my Origin account are from the on-the-house deal.
Reading through the thread a bit, it seems this has happened to quite a few others. Somehow people are able to gain access to Origin accounts, bypassing the 2FA and change the name. EA can't fix it or doesn't give a shit. This is why I prefer GOG. Something like this could happen to Steam too.

Interesting case on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/96e9j5/ea_deleted_my_origin_account_and_ea_help_is/
Indian veteran of all Battlefield games couldn't login to his Origin account. Account seemingly disappeared. EA support (email and telephone) says there never was such account. The user has all transaction proofs, credit card billings etc. He had all versions of Battlefield (including BF5 preorder), Fifa 18 and many other AAA games there.
EA claims they have no records of these purchases. There is nothing they can do. They even deleted all his support tickets, it's like he never contacted them.
Fun fact: the account can still be found in Battlelog and Origin search.
What are your thoughts on all this?
