Won't be surprised if a large number of them mysteriously appear on G2A.

Ah well. Time to buy it from that guy for only 3 TF 2 keys or Sekiro! ;)

The sad thing is that people are now blaming IOI because they didn't get the game.

People, man.

Lol how they gived away 47000 keys in twoo hours? What a jocke :)

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, some people took more than one, and to be honest, 47000 is not that big of a number. It's a popular game that a lot of people would want, hence why there were so many people trying to get in that caused the servers to be overloaded.

I doubt they give away 47000 even if a person can get 20 keys/hour...

Well, found some multi accounts out there.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Why?

There are currently 22 million people using Steam right now, as we speak. 47000 out of that number is 0.2% if my math is correct.

On their twitter post there are 1.4k likes and 600 retweets. Some people heard about it from Twitter. Some heard it from here, some from Reddit, etc. It quickly adds up. Once it goes viral, it can reach 47000 people very quickly.

Hell, a very good viral video that goes to the top of Reddit Videos in an hour gets 6 million views in a day.

EDIT: Besides, a serious company like IOI wouldn't lie about this. They wouldn't risk hurting their reputation over something like that, and besides, this is a good marketing move.

Yeah, figures. The moment the page finally loads, it's over.
We all know where we can find most of those keys now.

Sigh, literately tried for an hour and nothing :( Got the website to load, entered info, it just never went to any kind of confirmation screen and I haven't received anything >.< I hate stuff like this. Especially if it's a game I really wanted...

Damnit man, I've been wanting this game for so long and lost this chance. It saddens me that people got it just to give it away here or sell/trade.

I bet that bots got all the keys.

Guess I'll try my luck on the giveaways.

Well there goes an hour, was worried when I saw the post about Coupon has been activated, and when I finally get through they post on twitter it was over. I bet a lot of this could've been solved with some basic Captcha. Win some lose some.

Well HB Monthly had it earlier so shouldn't be so hard to get in a trade. Since value will drop tremendously.
If all sites did what Square did with Tomb Raider where you have a time limit to activate the key. Then they would not last on grey sites or go super cheap.

The most effective measure is to have a time limit for these kinds of free keys.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Pretty sure Steam doesn't offer that. Humble "fakes" it by removing the key (but it's still activate). The only option they have is manually disable all keys for activation (and we all know how often that gets messed up).

Its pretty easy to delete game from account and resync.

I didnt even think of that - I did that now I can enter. Thanks for the idea!

FYI for anyone else who does this - it still takes about an extra 5-10 min before its synced across the board that the games are removed. It showed as removed right away in web browser but not in Steam client. After 5-10 min it was finally gone. I resynced here and now I can enter giveaways.

I said this same thing further above - someone mentioned to me to remove the free episode and resync so thats what I did and it works.

Since you didn't win it here, you can just delete the first episode via Steam support, then enter all the giveaways you want.
If you don't win, you can still restore it later.

I was so angry about that.
Then a few months after that drama, Bandai Namco made a sale on their website, with the Season Pass of Dark Souls 3 (which I needed for my Dark Souls 3 Basic coming from a Humble Monthly) with the lowest price ever, and Dark Souls 1 for cheap (5€ or so) after months or years without a discount on Steam.
Bought them... and the website bugged and gave to me and some other lucky people (there was a topic about it on SG) two copies of each for the price of one. I shamelessly resold the bonus copies and forgave Namco.

I think I bought DS1 beforehand when it still went on a sale for 5€ often, so I was just shocked how badly it was organized. And people still could take 5-10 copies each lol!
( I think I still don't have the DS3 SP. Neither really a machine for it, so I'm fine with waiting :D )

Not even. This one, IO straight up said that keys were taken up in under 2 hours.

The problem is, between their site and the other link, both were concurrently 500'd/504'd during most of that whole time, so this felt like a huge lie. Some of those keys ended up at G2A and here in this time frame, and the sites were still out well after they announced that they're all taken.
