Seems like it will limit your customibility (sp? cause i know the nazi is coming) and class options...I.E. Getting rid of all brute strength leaves you with no warrior/barbarian/pugilist type classes or a very weak and unbalanced paladin type class. So it seems it would only appeal to gamers who want to be some magic user cast.

Or maybe the game includes some hard dodging system.

Planescape Torment had an interesting take on this concept. The result was legendary.

Although not an RPG, an example I can name is Warcraft 3's Frozen Throne Scourge campaign, where the main hero character Arthas in each chapter, had his level reduced 1 by 1.
So with a "reverse RPG", you'd start with max stats, you can OHKO normal monsters easily, and you'll have no problem taking out bosses initially. Later on though, instead of the monsters getting stronger through increases in HP, damage and armour, you'll get weaker, where your attacks don't do much damage at all (so really, near the end of the game, those really tough monsters you fight are exactly the same level as the monsters you fought and defeated easily at the start of the game). HOWEVER, to compensate for this, as opposed to the Warcraft 3 campaign example I highlighted above, you'll still start with no skills at the start, and you'll obtain MORE skills as you become weaker. So instead of brute strength and high numbers doing marvels for your character, you'd rely on your skills a lot more, not to mention your positioning when it comes to fights. Of course, to ensure that you don't just keep your character at their initial level in order to maintain that brute strength, monsters will become stronger through other attributes such as avoidability, resistance to normal attacks and so forth.
What do you guys think?
