Well, ive got a cod 4 key from get games. And i copied the key to clipboard to paste it on a word document where i have all the keys.

After that, i opened like 5 giveaways to enter, and what i usually do is to comment in the first one, copy my comment and paste it on the rest.

This time idiot me instead of copying it, i pasted ROFL, i deleted the comment soon after, hoping that no1 sniped it.

I already own the game, i was supposed to save it for a later giveaway. is there any way to check if it is still active or add it to my inventory?

if you can really trust someone, you can have someone with the game in their account use the key.

edit: actually I don't know if it would even tell you if the key was unused anyway. seems like there's only one way to find out.

That also implies the key will be used in the process. But it's actually the only way I think.
Give it to one of your friend to use(try) it and forget about making a giveaway with it. :(

Hmmmm I'm not 100% sure but if you try to activate it maybe it will say the key has been already activated instead of the usual this product is already on your account message?

Nope the "already owned product" message would pop even if the key is used..

Only way to find out is to do a giveaway.

And if its already used, ill have to get another key........

i tried to activate it on my account, but it says that i already own it.

I checked the comments of the giveaways i entered, and fortunately i was the last one to post, i deleted the comment within 20 seconds or so, and those giveaways are way behind the queue.

No one has said thanks or something like that so, im not that worried, but man, how stupid.

I think someone once said that they asked support (Steam support) to check if the key was used or not...

I've had more urgent matters on which steam support anwered "cant help ya".
I doubt they will do this

I once did that. I asked them to check if my key was used or not and they replied. Why not try your luck?

another way is perhaps to add all the guys who commented where you posted your comment and just ask them all if they got the key.

All of them don't comment though.. and if someone did reply to your comment, that gets deleted too.. when you delete yours

Their replies will still show up under Account > View Replies even if you delete your comment.

I would be very much interested in knowing how many begging attempts/random friend requests you've gotten on steam since opening this thread. Please let me know, thanks.

Steam should really make a system to tell if a key is valid or not without having to activate it to check.

Two options:

  • Make a giveaway for it and if they key is used then either buy another of accept a "not received" strike.

  • Give it to a friend and forget about gaining CV from it.
