Oh hello there, I didn't see you come in. Have a seat! We have so much to talk about - specifically my attempts to bribe you with sweet giveaways.

Bribe, you say? Yes, I do say. I also do bribe - within this post, deep within this post, is a train! A pretty good train if I do say so myself.

But first...

Like many of you, I have amassed a collection of games in my months at Steam Gifts. With the Humble Bundles, and various weekly Sales, I have seen my digital shelves grow to digital bursting. Like many of you... I suffer from a Back Log.

As such! I have decided to conquer my back log with the help of a blog.

Not just any blog though - a Back Blog.

I intend to play through every game I have, and write at least one post on every one. Some of these posts will be full of jokes, others will be full of deep introspection - others will be diaries, or lets plays, or whatever - I don't know for sure yet. It's bound to be pretentious though!

Anyways, I'd love for you Steam Gifters to give me the gift of your readership. Hence the bribes. I've laid out a list of the rules which can be found Here

I've also started the Project - my first game is Aarklash Legacy - which I've written about Here

So where do you come in? First you ride the train. Then you click on the links in the train, and if you're intrigued, you sign up so you know when those posts are hot out the oven, or presses, or whatever heat based metaphor works for you.

Specifically, for this site, I've created a Steam Group - linked in the train - if I see enough traffic, members, etc, my plan is to start giving away copies of the games I especially like from my Back Log (obviously once I've played and written about them)

I also plan on taking votes for the next game, and other aspects of the blog - crowd participation! You guys love crowd participation right?!

So that's that, thanks for taking a look - and hereeeee is the TRAIN

EDIT

Wow holy hell the turnout on this exceeded my expectations. Thanks to everyone for the luck wishing, and especially anyone who bookmarked, liked, followed, read, etc!

I'm taking the advice of HitScan and adding a page to the steam group that will update w/ every post - so if you don't use any other form of social media and you want to follow you can do so there.

I really appreciate the support from everyone - I've already prepped an update for tomorrow! So if you're following, check in then.

I'll try to go through and individually respond to people following, who had questions, etc - sorry I can't respond to everyone who said good luck, but I read em all, and I appreciate every one :)

The combat is… incredible.
But I’ll touch on that more next time.

How I hate when people do that. I think you should write everything in one post, instead of splitting it into two or more.

I also get annoyed when people score games, I think scoring is completely unnecessary and doesn't really benefit the reader as it doesn't actually say anything other than your personal opinion.

Anyway, I'm interested to see what you have to say about the combat of the game. I always consider buying it during sales, because it always goes down to like what, less than 2 euros. What I've read so far made me almost completely lose interest in that game though.

I can see where you're coming from, but we live in a world where a lot of people won't read giant walls of text. If I had included my post on combat that first Aarklash post would have been about 4-5 words long. That's pretty damn big for one post, and I also plan on writing a final thoughts piece, and that would bump it up to 7500ish.

I'm trying to draw people in and get them to come back - it sounds like it might have worked with you since you want to read about the combat - so check back tomorrow!

Also regarding scores, I don't disagree however unlike a review site like IGN or Gamespot, this literally is nothing but my opinion. Besides I'm writing enough about the game that it should give you an idea what you're getting, or at least, that's the intent.

Thanks for the comments/criticism, I'll try to make them a bit longer, also bear with me because this is the beginning, I don't have a full handle on how I want to write about this stuff :)

Thanks! I'm doing this for the working man and woman, playing the games that they can't and neglecting my wife and child!

Thanks for checking it out :)

Aarklash Legacy review is pretty on point. Though I actually enjoyed the characters interacting with each other - even though the voice acting wasn't spectacular. You missed that Nokka and Devlin are siblings; adoptive or in the friends-all-our-lives kind of way, I presume. Otherwise it'd be "what the heck were their parents smoking?"

Combat (depending on the difficulty) is a race of pause and play micromanagement; mostly between your healer, and tank. It was actually pretty fun and challenging for a tactical squad rpg, but it suffers in that effect that once you get your A-Team you never need to use the others (and might not want to).

Thanks for reading! Post on combat is coming tomorrow - but on 2nd to highest difficulty I had a lot of fun, but I do agree that once you put together your A Team it does get easier - still though, even then you can get killed pretty quickly if you aren't paying full attention, which most games can't say. (Also I never changed from the initial 4 so I absolutely concur)

Man, maybe I somehow missed their interactions, because they rarely spoke to each other in my game.

If you enjoyed reading, please keep checking back!

Yep, that was my experience in combat as well. Started at the same difficulty setting, I toned it down one notch, not because I was tired of getting my ass kicked, but it was taking too long. Especially fights against multiple healers could take upwards of several minutes. And unless you're playing D&D (or some other pen & paper game) that's too long for what's ostensibly supposed to be a casual encounter.
