I think this article pretty much sums it up: https://www.pcgamer.com/warcraft-3-reforged-controversy/

Simply said, it seems that it's not the remastered game many fans of Warcraft III expected to see and play.
Just like bigwormuoeno points it in the article.

Lots of lies, bad initial optimization, bad decisions, no new content, and policies against map makers.
Personally, something horrible that blizzard does is disappear the original game to bring the new one, the original was lost so that reforged could take its place (in Spanish the dubbing actors were changed). I know that overwatch did the same thing and I don't know if Diablo 2 did the same thing.
I think most of the people who bought Reforged gave it a bad rating, because you can see how little love it was created with (something unacceptable for how transcendental Warcraft 3 was), and to this day many still prefer the original version. .

is this the one pc gamer magazine said was worse than a programmers first project

Diablo II and its expansion, Lord of Destruction, had never been on sale.
But the remastered version, Diablo II: Resurrected had been discounted on many occasions. And it's on sale now.
You can check the history here:

Did you ever have the physical discs? Blizzard was dumb putting the CD key on stickers outside the jewel case where it can be rubbed off, but you can still register your key on BNet and just download the installer...

I had pirate discs years ago and wasn't able to play on the servers (I was playing on garena). Then, I bought keys on the battle.net. I've never had the original discs unfortunately. If the keys were on the outside of the case, someone could copy and use it, isn't it?

That could be the case, especially once they began attaching keys to email addresses. I was able to use my old D2 key from classic Battle Chest and the expansion key from one of my old jeweled cases that I've kept, so I was extremely fortunate that they worked.

Probably the discount gets deeper on the winter sale. Who knows.

It seems this deal will last until July 4... the Diablo: Prime Evil Collection is also greatly reduced (67% off)

Are old custom maps still playing in bnet servers? For example Legion Td, Castle Fight ?

Diablo 2 Resurrected is at 263 Mexican pesos (15.3 dollars), 67% quite undecided whether to buy it.

I don't know about D4, but I played 600+ hours with PoE. PoE is a true free 2 play game. You only pay for cosmetic stuff and inventory tabs. Cosmetic is not necessary ofc, chest inventory tabs are needed only if you want to keep a lot of stuff and you are out of character slots. All characters are using the same chest, so you can make alt characters only to store stuff in them. Around after 100-200 hours of gameplay, you really need some more inventory space.

Poe is an amazing game, and I agree with everything Hallak said. I pre-ordered Diablo 4 with huge hype, but, to be honest, I fell asleep after playing for just 15 minutes. When I woke up, I realized I had died multiple times. :)) In my opinion, Diablo 4 is much slower than PoE. PoE really gets your adrenaline pumping with its fast leveling until you reach level 80, the fluid movement, attack skills, and overall freedom. Should you play Diablo 4? Yes, you should, maybe after a year or later when they have fixed numerous irritating issues. If I manage to complete the campaign in Diablo, I will return to PoE without hesitation.

yes it is possible, but many maps suffered a lot of visual bugs and since they changed the balance many maps were broken. Although how the original game was suppressed doesn't matter much, playing one or the other version would only change the models. maps with many units it is better to play them in the classic one because of the lag.

Even if it was good, I'll keep my money away from Bobby shithead

Starcraft and Diablo 2 are remasters done right. I would highly recommend you try them out.
There's also Command and Conquer Remastered (Includes C&C, Red Alert and all their dlcs) on Steam that is also very well done and goes on a steep sale, check it out if you love classic RTS.
I do not recommend WC3 Reforged if you already have the original keys on your battlenet account.
It's a horrible downgrade and clearly unfinished.
You can still play WC3 Campaign and Online with other users that have the old and the new Reforged version.
Some custom made maps that use new graphics added in Reforged won't be available however but that's all.

yeah I bought the D2 remaster just haven't installed it yet - wondering if I'll be able to get my old chars back or if I'll have to start from scratch
yeah I still have my old WC3 keys which I can use to play offline singleplayer with just the efficient 3gb install
The problem I've heard is if you want to connect to battlenet and play WC3 original officially that it forces you to install the 30gb bloat graphics even when you're unable to display them because you don't own reforged - very bad design.

This is the first time ever that Warcraft III: Reforged has been discounted. It's quite steep. 50% off.
That makes it a historical low.

GG.Deals
I've been waiting for so long, saving some bucks in the hope that someday I can afford it through a discount.
Up until recently, I used to play the classic version of it (Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne) through legacy launcher on Battle.net.
Now it's the right time to redeem it with my Battle.net Balance.
For those interested in the game, here's the link to the shop:
https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/warcraft-iii-reforged
With the 50% off discount applied, it will cost $14.99 and $19.99 for Standard and Spoils of War Edition, respectively.
