This game will unlock in approximately ?? hours
and the reviews are postive (always good when its up pre release)

But, this is a port from 2018. and we alread know its a good game.
So really all the focus should be about the port performance on PC and if there is any extras.
I like the System Requirment and the other info released, this should be the standard

And then there is the fact that most of the players who care about it already played it (i think), its a few years old and part of a series that never released on PC before.
im glad and all with the state of PC releases, more options is always better. but could this be a little too late
hopefully sales wont disappoint them from releasing more games
no GA here

Edit: forgot to add poll option for (buy/play it again), lets make it the pre-order
Also im just impressed with the System Requirment table, sad smile in 720p
OH the PRICE, its not 70$ but its an old game. and regional prices sucked.

Pre-ordered!! Steam>PS4
Yeah, lets see whats the hype is about
NO! already played it
maybe! not really my thing

Too much advertising, too high price, something, as always, for the fan boys and the rich kids.

And Pre-order is always for the ones that don't know where to burn their money and/or for the dumb ones.
To buy something only based on paid advertising is dumb from my point of view

Ps.: A hype is always a bad sign for me and i do exactly the opposite as "the masses".

i only noticed the release because of the reviews, are you calling them ads?
and sadly Pre-order and Lootboxes have been proven to work
but i didnt notice hype or ads for this game, am i missing something?

Fanatical, HB etc. advertise it much.

Hype = A lot of people talk about and your own poll have

Yeah, lets see whats the hype is about

Reviews = A small part are honest, the rest are always positive to be sure to get the next game from the same publisher.
My own curation have a good bunch of not recommended reviews but we are clearly in the minority of the curation on steam

i meant the hype and praise it got back in 2018, awards and stuff
but the PC release felt lacking, maybe they dont want to highlight its lack of PC options
its not even in the Steam banners

I made a post asking about the date being 2022 instead of 2018 release date and everyone got really butthurt and the mods deleted it, I didn't even have to say anything else haha. I just thought it was a little interesting they're labeling this as a new game when GOW Ragnarok is supposed to release this year. Probably just trying to confuse people. Technically this is called GOW(2018) right because there's also GOW1. So if this is GOW(2018) how can it be released in 2022?

Also a ton of threads mentioning how all their ports have multiple issues. There's no such thing as a pre-ordering a 3 year old game, I could go buy it today for a console and the whole playthrough is already online, before the game even launched, that shouldn't be possible unless it's already out, which it has been, for 3 years. They're just reselling a 3 year old game and enabling features that can be enabled on pc with no stress, they just cut those features out because they ported to a console in the first place. Now they're porting back to pc rather than doing it on pc and then porting to console.

So no, I'm not paying full price for a 3 year old game, when the developers engage in this behavior, despite me being somewhat interested in it I already know the story by now, it's been 3 years. Games are coded on pc, they can release them on pc.

PS: Should have added poll options for "already seen the gameplay" and "the game is 3 years old".

these are good options XD
ive seen other ports with Steam release date and not the orginal date, guess its optional
And I dont think they do much porting these days, consoles share the same architecture with pc since PS4 (PS5 is just AMD APU).
But exclusivity deals is a thing so you can expect more of late releses on Steam >> Epic

Yes. In the thread I made on the GOW discussion forum I did mention how for instance Quake has a release date listed as 1996 when steam itself wasn't even released as an app, and we all know it came to steam many years later, I'm gonna assume probably like 2008. Despite the fact that Quake got updates just like a month ago, it's not like updating some graphics or adding 1 functionality makes it a whole new game, and releasing it on an app wouldn't justify changing the original release date. You are however right, a lot of them do it and I don't think it's okay, and yes exclusivity deals are also a problem, like in the case with Hitman 3 coming now to steam finally, where they advertise that if you buy it within the first 3 weeks I think you can get the "trinity pack" which is a "pre-order exclusive" for basically 3 costumes, in an attempt for them to sell the game at a higher price, I mean we'll see what it gets listed as.

And yes while they probably share the same architecture they still have to tone down and remove certain features for something like a ps5 because everything is so compact and the GPU equivalent of a PS5 is a RTX2070, when the ultra settings for GOW recommend a 3080. By default there the ps5 is already behind the times and we have 3090's out and we're already waiting for 4090's. Consoles and their "exclusives"(that end up not being exclusives since they bring them to whatever platform after many years) have always hindered the progress of gaming. Imagine if all the spiderman, uncharted, last of us, etc. games released on pc first using as much detail as possible and then they'd tone it down for a console.

counter argument would be that "exclusive" are better because the funding it gets and the QA to make sure its a "console seller". and not all make it out of the tiny console prison.
and from a business stand point (its all about the money), Console is the bigger market with more kids to spend unaware parents's money on DLC
look at Cyberpunk and OG crysis. more sales require ease of access

I don't disagree. It's easier to sell a console at $500 when it can't do as many things as a pc can, and then sell a user another device for their music, another device for work, another device for watching tv, another device for doing school. Then all they gotta do is make these devices not upgradeable, and weak enough we have to replace them every 2 years, and there we are. If they could and there was no pc people to tell them to back off, we'd be walking around with 50 devices on us.

And yes, people save on pc games over the years by buying a pc that lasts them 5-10 years, and then over the years they get games on sale rather than paying $60 for every game unless it turns out it's amazing. It's kind of like a return investment, but most people can't do basic math. And yes I get you, cyberpunk was big failure, crysis however is to this day a staple in testing hardware on ultra settings haha.

Personally, I find these games a bit overhyped. The walk and talk with bits of action in between game play just doesn't really grab me. I also find the over the shoulder action games really irritating because of their field of view, and God of War is one of the worst for this. I remember when games used to get heavily criticised for their lack of field of view, but it gets largely ignored these days. It makes it hard to see what the hell is going on.

I'm thrilled it's coming to PC and better yet a platform I use. I'm actually all in favor of Sony bringing even more to the table for PC access.

With that said, I'm not paying $49.99 for a digital port. Not this one and not any other for that matter. Brand spanking new, a physical copy would run me $19.99. Let alone that when I checked the price just now it was $9.88 for a new physical copy, on sale. If I decided to go the pre-owned route then I'd be looking at $7.99 for a physical copy.

The only reason the prices are so inflated is because the other option is locked behind hardware that's a few hundred dollars. Call me a miser, penny pincher, etc. I'm more than happy to wait years if needed for a price more in-line with actual, physical media lol.

Same here. I'll personally wait until it's either on a decent sale or in a bundle. I actually bought this game brand new from Wal-Mart for my sister on Black Friday for $9.99. Was honestly shocked when I saw that price! I get it's a 4 year old game at this point, but I guess they wanna get the PC market money before discounting it that much like they have for the PlayStation gamers. But, I can wait. I waited for Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone to go down under $25, I can wait for God of War to do the same. Lord knows I need to start playing my backlog and stop hoarding games

Exactly! The digital is borked when physical, which has numerous overhead costs, is a fraction of the cost. Plain crazy. It'll sell a fair bit and maybe in 6-8 months we'll start seeing decent sales though. It's all a waiting game at this point. 100% feel the backlog situation too! I got a mighty pile to work through on my end as well.

For all intents and purposes it's a good game, well received from 2018 onward too. For those willing to wait, I give it 6-8 months before the sales start rolling in and a more reasonable price point is reached. This seems to be the trend for most ports(remasters too) in general from the few I've followed at least. Regardless, people will buy one way or the other.

Just took a gander and a used unit is running about $280 in my area. I would expect PS4 prices to remain fairly steady as well. I read an article a while back along the lines of "Sony is going to make more PS4s as a result of the PS5 shortage." Doesn't appear that we'll see a quick phase out of the older generation for a good time more with the current market.

I don't think it's overhyped. I'm currently playing Days Gone, a game with a similar trajectory (ps4 exclusive and then on pc), and the quality really is unparalleled. its hard to debate the quality of the game, but the PC port is a whole other thing
PC should demand more options or it will soon turn into a console
maybe then a full price would justified.

i think it's a good game to enjoy for storytelling and action in "corridor" limited enviroment , and most of time this is valid for most of playstation games (not all but many at least released until today),and normally playstation games until today is habit to have very inexistent or poor physic too (for comparision gears of war, halo, sea of thieves in the first xboxone has much better physic than some ps4 games also if xone has potato crap cpu...but evidently ms\xbox developers is better in optimize physic for games for what i see, hope this will change in future now that both XSX\PS5 has decent cpu)
Personally i prefer games with open world exploration or build as Astroneer (this really i like much also if have 0 storytelling),EliteDangerous,Fallout4,TheWitcher3 or games with a little bit of stealth same as DeusEx,Sekiro Shadows die Twitce,Prey,Batman Arkham knight etc.

i agree with you about the price, but this looks like to be a new common habit from big publishers and\or asia publishers\stores,and for what i can see recently also nintendo (consoles) do this...
And not only about region we still see also how today games has been "Splitted" in multiple dlcs (see fighting\car\fly games etc) and top of this i see an "abuse" also of cartoon\anime images\videos trailers for kids in this by sell games related to this extremely splitted dlc\expensive price also if the game then is very low quality but only because is from a famous game (see bandai\namco\konami etc)
BTW never forget Your Money,Your Decision,so you can just NOT buy the game if\when you disagree the price and NOT play it,you can find similar games that offer similar experience at 10 lower price than god of war (ironically ms GOW or similar games) at the finish if we remove all the markething ***** and the videos it's just a game about hit enemies nothing + nothing less ¯_(ツ)_/¯
And btw there is refund too if the game is not playable in your pc and\or you disagree it's price\quality...
just for example Personally me has preordered cyberpunk2007,play it,and never refund i was super happy about that game, but i see many others do refund so...

i think btw if you wait 1-2 years you can buy it with 50% discount then, because this is happen already for Horizon Zero Dawn,Death Stranding and other Playstation games on Epic or Steam.
Then ok it will be a "FAKE 50%" because if the game is selled since the start with a price 2-3 times bigger than the normal regional price it's sort of real 20% more than a 50%... but what i mean is,if you wait 1-2 years for sure then can save some money and get it at less than now.
Also you must to check in the Epic store when have -$10€ coupon discount in countries as turkey, thailand, argentina etc. games is much way cheaper then around $10\15\35€ instead of $59\69€
Then ok people will come to you complain about this is not good to do or they will tell you your account will get banned and blablabla but this is the real fact if you want to save money.

About the Performances,i will tell you\update my opinion after i try it by myself , i'm curious about this too because i own a 10 years old cpu (with crappy $40 mobo not support OC) so this game (togheder with other future games) will be important for me for see if i can continue play with what i already own or if i need to do an upgrade (until now i can play all games at ultra starwarsjedifallenorder 60fps,cyberpunk2077 30fps stable with raytracing, prey etc.) but it help much to me the fact that i personally don't like some advanced graphics that others people like (For example i prefer low shadow at the high soft shadow, because to my eyes looks like i can see the shadows better) or i don't like blur (i prefer to see nitid also in movement) or depth of field (i want to see things far or in background for go reach them etc.) and other things like this,so this until now has helped me too to not need an upgrade because i have notcommond\different taste than most of other people that viceversa activate all of them because like it
This said for what i see,it's possible to upgrade to an i31200+ddr4+mobo for around $300\500€ today (it's nearly the price of a today console and is 3 time less the price than who buy PS4 then PS4Pro then PS5 consoles itineration around $1500€ at launch) so would not be a big problem for me to upgrade in 2023 or later for play some new games, but personally i hope and wish i NOT need it,if i could keep this money in my poket is better i try to not buy pc components for "desire only" but only if really need it,at least this saved me for 10 years to not upgrade and save a lot of money and can play all games until now,for future we will see ¯_(ツ)_/¯

extra: Looks like also the game NOT fully support ALL haptic feedback triggers etc. on PC (i don't know if in ps4\5 support all or only part of it) so if someone still think to buy a ps5 controller only for this maybe is time to wait not buy ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Personally i'm super happy that the game has come to PC,the same i can say for horizon zero dawn\death stranding (that i buy on steam) and detroit become human\heavyrain\beyondtwosouls (that i buy on epic) i'm not a big fan of exclusives pratices that i very hate, and i don't like consoles too because of their single store nature and NOT be able to select or disable graphic that i don't like (as i explain already before),and i'm not big fan of consoles for other thousands of reasons that i not want to write but is related to right of repair, controllers compatibility etc. in general they is not a good deal,it's much hw\sw closed so for me is more a fraud than a deal consoles.

well, that was a roller coaster :D
The game won awards back in 2018 so it should be good, but is still good 4 years later for 50$?
the last console i had was PS2 so i played some GOW but i did not care enough to play the new PS4 game. if i did i would have played it when it was Game of the Year, but now i find it hard to care about it even on PC.
Not that i hate it on PC, i would love to have all the games i like on one system. but some ports come with no option just like a console game and there was no updates or fix.

And to be fair, the exclusive games are almost always good because SONY pays money to make sure its a great so you buy the system. it just sucks to have the game limited by systems, and if you wait for 50% you already playing a 5-10 years old game with no real improvement for PC. this is why we have new GTA5 and Skyrim, its cheaper to make ports then to develop better games. not to mention Useless remasters.

Anyway, nothing against console, not everyone can/want to play with a pc and its easy to use. but since the PC will last longer and gets better with age, the ports should support that. PS1 emulators have better PC option than most ports.
BTW what GPU do you have? can it do 4k like PS4 pro/PS5?
Also PS4 had no "feedback triggers" and this game is for PS4

[SuperMegaCagifrastilistichespiralitosoWallOfCoastersTextON]
"The game won awards back in 2018 so it should be good, but is still good 4 years later for 50$?"
i play videogames for 20 years and i not have a good reputation about "awards" or events like that, for my personal experience they always has awarded games that i don't like (looks like mafia videogames industry\marketing more than reward for gamers like... a little bit same movie oscars etc.) and never awarded games i like hahaha

i agree with you that for be an old game it's expensive,it must have been selled at around $15€\1300 Rub in my opinion, With that $50 people can buy for 50 Months by do new accounts Xbox Game Pass $1€ and play Hundreds of games beautiful same as god of war or maybe better too (it depend by taste) and not give a f** about god of war...,1 game is 1 game, play that or another is same, purpose is to have fun
So yes hhmm it's expensive, for sure would be better to buy it when the price go down after many years if\who want to experience it.

"the last console i had was PS2 so i played some GOW but i did not care enough to play the new PS4 game."
Well let's say it's not a game that is best in originality of gameplay LOL,it's action game about hit enemy so yes hhmm it's nothing special, but this can be said for most of ps games sadly, they is good in storytelling and some in visual, but gameplay\physic is low quality (see also uncharted, last of us etc they look all the same game lol)

"but some ports come with no option just like a console game and there was no updates or fix."
This was one thing i mad about metro exodus too, when there is no options really hurt\disappoint me..

"it just sucks to have the game limited by systems"
i agree with you and for my opinion it's also absurd that people must buy games only in 1 store also when they is multiplatform, for my opinion if i buy a game (no matter if on xbox, playstation, nintendo, steam, epic, gog store etc) i must be able to play it on all platforms\consoles\pc i hope in future this happen
and for me is also absurd that nintendo not create a cloud service for play their games on pc (and i talk as an owner of switch),it's also stupid because you sell a console at $200€ or you sell 12 months of nintendo cloud at $17€ you will earn the same $200€... so..

"and if you wait for 50% you already playing a 5-10 years old game with no real improvement for PC"
You is Right, but for people poor this is good to do,is mean can play God Of War but by pay only $15\20€ (also if is old and port suck, but can enjoy the storytelling\enviroment\gameplay of it)
instead of pay $1500€ for itinerations of ps4\ps4pro\ps5 and buy the game at $69,99€ in the ps store..
Save "1400€ is not that much bad :P

"not to mention Useless remasters"
yes i noticed Sometimes in some games reshade or nvidia freestyle do better than pay-remasters hahaha, and many too haha.

"BTW what GPU do you have? can it do 4k like PS4 pro/PS5?"
PS4Pro it's not a 4K native gaming console and is not a console able to run ALL games at 4K,only run at 4K some of them and with more removed\limited\downgrade graphic,4K it's used with more marketing lies.
PS5 Maybe,i'm not sure...
This said i don't care about 4K for me is ok to play 1080P,i play 1600 videogames at 1080P and i has always been happy (without 4k),also because i never see 4K in my life so i don't know how it is too :D
Personally i care + about to have graphic settings because as i write already i want to disable graphics i don't like etc.
i don't have a 4K monitor or a PC that can run 4K games so i get an RTX2060s that is enough for me enjoy all games i own until now at ultra graphic 60fps 1080P (or 30 with raytracing too),for now i can run cyberpunk2077,prey,swjedifallen at 60 without problems
Also this gpu has 43mhs hashrate enable me to earn 40\70 euro every month (thanks to bitcoin mining and enable me to save a lot of money by can buy humble choice, microsoft rewards\xbox quests\bundles,multiple stores etc. so would not be hard to upgrade my pc or to buy a ps5 thanks to the money the gpu give to me , vice versa a console like ps4pro (with 8mhs hasharte) ps5 only make lose money so it's better first to get\use a gpu,and then after a console,at least for me.
My GPU btw enable me to play Cyberpunk2077 right now at 30FPS stable graphic ultra with Raytracing that in my opinion is better than play at 4K but with less graphic or raytracing, something that for now PS4\PS5 only Dream when they sleep or with a next update.

"Also PS4 had no "feedback triggers" and this game is for PS4"
Yes but the PS5 version of god of war has been update for support some haptic feedback features (so pc could be too maybe),
but yes what is sucks is that it not support triggers features,so yes i think is better if sony update the game on pc for support it

Personally i buy god of war at full price because i think the storytelling and enviroment is worth it (also if i'm not big fan of playstation company that abuse so much lies\arrogance) also if the game is old,But yes i agree with you that the price is wrong, must to be $15€\$20€ not + in my opinion.
But as i said this can be fixed by put the game in wishlist and wait,i do it with a lot of other games, for example Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding i buy them with arount -70%-75% discount... wait it very long time for many years.

The fact that the game is old not stop me to buy it or play it,i buy on steam videogames as Hostage,Gods (that is game run in amiga emulator etc.) and buy in gog etc games as Warlords\Syndicate etc (it's games from 1990 LOL) ,so i not care about the "old",the important for me is the game is beautiful, good quality and my taste, then yes $50€ price suck, must have been $15\20€ since start
i recently also buy jak and daxter for PS1 (original disk) and graphic looks like vomit (if compared to now) but i happy play it...so yes this not stop me to buy games i not care much about it,if gameplay or storytelling is good i happy buy.
Me mad viceversa when game is ugly\bad (or if can't play 30\60fps stable),that is hurt me very.

i think best choice is wait that the game is discount at a price around $10€ and then buy it,in this way you not lose to play it but not pay expensive too,one thing is sure BUY it NOW at launch it's not a good deal, the same can be said for all other games, because after 5-6 months most of time they get -50% discount then get -66% then -75% etc..

at least this is what i think as a customer, gamer, then personally i not care about the other things about "investors\developers\playstation etc" as a gamer the only thing i must do is buy the game and play and have fun,up to other then how these things work i don't even want know 🤣

Tomorrow i will try the game,if run at 60fps stable on my system at 1080p high graphic (but by remove graphics i don't like like blur\dof\high soft shadows etc) i would be happy play,if viceversa no i will do refund and buy it later 1-2 years when have big discount and better cpu\mobo (gpu it's ok).

i think most important think is you to be happy
People can be happy pay 1$ xbox game pass and play 100 Games on it (gears5,sea of thieves, halo infinite etc.) and not care about god of war
Or can be happy pay $50€ (or maybe 15 after 1-2 years) play god of war...
or can be happy buy 50 games at $1€ each and not care about god of war
Result it's the same, but if you feel buy god of war now make you sad,so better not buy.
Because the important is to have a game you can play and be happy, that you like.

Personally i like + Astroneer,Elite Dangerous,Sekiro Shadows Die Twice,Halo Infinite, batman arkham knight, bioshock, prey, deus ex MORE than god of war that i like less,it's less my taste "action" , but consider the fact that i not lose $1500€ for buy ps4\ps4pro\ps5 when they was released advertised at launch , i think if buy god of war now for pc (also if at full price that is 1400€ less than buy all that consoles crap) it's not that much bad.

Is that one of those action adventure games with stealth elements?

I've heard of those.

its a fun game. enjoyed it. will pick it up on steam when it hits 66% i think, because its well worth having on pc, and it'll be good to play it with all the settings cranked up.

Last two PS ports I played were turds for me. Stopped playing Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn after a few sessions, they are both just so boring, nothing special (no technical issues for me). Just your random open world action games like many others from the last decade or so but this time with annoying characters, bland worlds and tragic dialogs. I don't expect much of God of War either. Should probably try Days Gone first but it's gathering dust in my library, can't get around to play it after aforementioned titles. I don't know why all the fuss about those "great" PS exclusives - they are really average and generic.

Days Gone is much worse than those two games you couldn't get into. Just another action game about a boring jock in an overused setting. People who praise it for writing have their bars set really low. I mean, sure, the gameplay is rather pleasing, and it's perfect when it comes to visuals and optimization, but that's basically it. Although the said jock is definitely more likable than the guy from Death Stranding (I suspect that one is intentionally irritating).

Death Stranding is not even good in the game systems department, so much boring micromanagement and fetching. I have a soft spot for zombies and postapo in general, so maybe Days Gone will be better for me.

yeah, Days gone is not gonna impress you. from what ive seen its a bland open-world Ubisoft thing.
GOW is more story-focused

I like a good story in games, sometimes short but story focused game is better for me than an open world but pretty hollow game with milion mechanics.

Currently don't have GPU to play anything new in decent framerate, have to wait for situation with prices to stabilize, hopefully it will be better in 1-2 years. It is good that the price is high as it is - many people want to play big Sony exclusives on PC day 1 and will pay as much to do it. Sony will earn more money and as a result bring more ports to PC and with less delay (after 2 years since release would be ideal). The rest of us will get more games to choose from and will buy them when decent discount hits.

I pre-ordered this, hope to play it soon.
Overall, I'm glad that Sony is releasing their games on PC more and more. I think this is the right policy, handy for people like me who are uncomfortable with having a console.

Happy Cake Day!

Also, I agree. I think Sony finally realized releasing games on more than one platform brings in a lot more money. Even if it is older exclusives

I played it a bit with friend's ps5, it was OK. It's way overhyped, combat is fine, as I remember, but a bit clunky. Wanted to be DS, but failed at that. Can't comment on story too much, since I haven't played it much. Beaten first couple bosses and that's it.
