This game will unlock in approximately ?? hours
and the reviews are postive (always good when its up pre release)

But, this is a port from 2018. and we alread know its a good game.
So really all the focus should be about the port performance on PC and if there is any extras.
I like the System Requirment and the other info released, this should be the standard

And then there is the fact that most of the players who care about it already played it (i think), its a few years old and part of a series that never released on PC before.
im glad and all with the state of PC releases, more options is always better. but could this be a little too late
hopefully sales wont disappoint them from releasing more games
no GA here

Edit: forgot to add poll option for (buy/play it again), lets make it the pre-order
Also im just impressed with the System Requirment table, sad smile in 720p
OH the PRICE, its not 70$ but its an old game. and regional prices sucked.

Pre-ordered!! Steam>PS4
Yeah, lets see whats the hype is about
NO! already played it
maybe! not really my thing

I played the game on my ps and must say I enjoy it a lot, but not in the highest difficulty, some fights lasted too long and if you want to do the "secret boss", oh boy it gonna hurt. But even if was enjoyable, I wouldn't pay so much for a game that old, I recommend waiting for 50% off or more (i you waited so long, why not wait a little more).

May give a try but not paying 40€ per one game. :) as i know myself ill be tired after 3h and it not worth it. Best deal was when PUBG was new and everywhere it was 30€ i used price glitch for 13€... i have 1600h on it, thats reasonable price, not 30-50€ for singleplayer thats literally few hours

Digital Foundry: God of War on PC is superb! Alex Battaglia goes fully in-depth on the port, produced by Sony Santa Monica and Jetpack, with options analysis, performance testing, console comparisons, optimised settings and much, much more!

God of War is an awesome game, strongly disagree with the people calling it overhyped. Combat is very fun, entertaining story, game looks nice, the lore is cool. What's not to like?

I don't care how old it is on console; it's new to PC, and a $50 experience is always worth $50 to me. Hell, I can spend $50 on a really nice dinner that might last me an hour or two.

Bring 'em all to PC, I say. Bought HZD and Days Gone on day one, and loved the hell out of both of 'em.

its not relly new though, apart from basic PC features its missing a lot PC standred improvement. HQ textures and RTX to name a few
this could be the best port we had in a while but we should demand better
obviously, you are the target audiunce, and im happy you got what you want. just wanted to hear it :)

6 years old game, no new additions other than obvious PC settings, being sold at nearly full price.
No regional pricing. In my region, it is being sold for way more than brand-new AAA games.

Sony can fuck off.

The game is released in 2018, so actually it's 4 years old.

I stand corrected, but my point still stands. All the biggest games from 2021 are being sold at a lower price in my region. Even Sony's previous PC releases like Horizon sold at a lower price at launch.

I never expected it to come to PC, and I don't own any modern consoles, so ended up just watching a playthrough on Youtube.
Will still pick up the PC release one day, but not for now.

I think it's pretty cool, but the main guy doesn't look like Nicholas Cage at all. I like that they switched the setting from Africa in the movie to somewhere North here, it's a bold move. Starts off strong, can't wait until it gets back on track and we get to arms dealing stuff.

i have no idea, it costs over 7000 argentine pesos with all the taxes so it's not possible to afford it

i did play most of god of war 1 in the ps2, i loved it, but the dvd was fucked up, so you could only play up untill a level where there were many floor spikes under a timed trigger
i really really loved god of war, i would have loved to be capable of playing the first game to the end and all the rest of the series.

if I dont remember badly, gow2 comes in dvd9 format.
the copyes that werent original on a normal dvd, has some files deleted, so it can fit on 4,2gb. so thats why you couldnt finish the game, you reach a part where the game have to load a file and it was missing

it might have been, i was like 15 years old when i got the game, and it was gifted to me with the ps2, it looked legit, but i always blamed it to my ps2 not correctly reading something

[edit] it was god of war 1 not 2, i could never even find the second one :c

i had troubles with the lazer reader thingie and had to be changed like every month or so, it was a pain, but i really loved what i could play of god of war ^w^

One of the best sony sagas finally on pc. Without a doubt, it´s a great opportunity to enjoy it...

The price is horrible but one could wait a while for offers let's say...

On the other hand, it's a shame that they didn't port the old games in the series. Each of them (No, Ascension, not you) are masterpieces.

I totally disagree with those who say it's not a big deal and... also I would urgently recommend them an eye doctor :P

PS:
Most of what i said bellow is distorted- despite claims on this thread i did buy it on regional pricing(im on brazil).
Steams full price on Brazil converting to usd is 36 dollars- and i bought elsewhere with a voucher for 31.
That said i stand by the core of what i said, price perception is different for me, different reality, wages, etc

Price should be better, no arguing against that. This trend of price increases doesnt bode well for us... but it makes some sense -AAA is more expensive then ever, production costs increasing, and ol 60 dollars was much lower then the original 60 dollars of the golden age considering inflation; Also its probably our last hope considering a majority of bigger publishers, theyre already making more money on shallow worse and exploitive experiences (mobile, gatcha, lootboxes, etc) and when were talking greedy companies (a majority of then, because capitalism) - some degree of price increase is the most likely chance of seeing some beloved ips they hold released in new proper titles - ie, if they cant squeeze a bigger margin on singleplayer no bs/nonsense pure game they will probably not do proper games anymore (ex: ubisoft).

I wouldnt care but sadly said publishers wouldnt ever let go of their ips, so in the exchange weve already lost Assassins Creed(proper), Prince of Persia...

My point is- im not against the price increase if that means proper releases (full experiences, no nonsense etc); It then becomes a matter of personal gauge between day 1 or just waiting for a sale.

And my gauge with GoW was day 1. 'Released on consoles 4 years ago' and? Nowadays i rarely feel like a game is worth its price, rarely a title blows me out of my chair, heck i get that effect with indies way more then AAA games these days. First few hours of GoW? Worth every penny for me, without a question. Also so freaking well optimized (+dlss and fsr) ive never been able to run anything so beautiful at 4k(not native, but close) so smoothly on my midrange setup.

Wait for sale sure, for budget reasons? Definetly!
But just because it came on ps on 2018? Nonsense.
Unless you want to play it when its 6-8 years old...?

Anyone who played it before id say wait. Anyone like me who never touched the game on playstation? Go for it, if not now on the first confortable discount you see. Definetly worth it

i hate the 60$ argument, tell me how Hades can be for 30$
and if you want to consider inflation, then consider the economics of scale. games sell more units than the golden age
not to mention all the DLC, lootboxes, and merchandising.

so to me 60$ is too much for a game, and too #$%&ing much for an old game.
in the end Value is relative, so thank you for sharing :)

I want to agree with you but im talking from market perspective- what goes into business decisions, wich sadly doesnt translate to how things mean for us.

Hades can easily be 30 because of it extremely lower budget and time of production compared to AAA fare. Its production was top notch and high end for an indie, still much smaller team with a much smaller cycle of development. Heck they could work with 1 main artist (concept and character portraits) im not sure about the sprites but that couldve been 1 too, 1 or 2.
In comparison AAA games have art departments larger then their whole team- and thats 1 department.
All of that factors in amounting costs, wages, etc

Business wise its all about ROI. When big titles take 3, 5 even 7 years, hundreds of fulltime top professionals...

BUT The problem here isnt that they cant profit at a lower price- but how that business model and type of game compares to other investments

Point is with inflation if they keep the prices low it stops making sense for a business and its shareholders to spend 5 years sinking the budge of 2 lotr trilogies (yes, costs are like that nowadays) if they could spend months making a simple looking mobile game that profitted higher.

That is the problem. Thats why so many publishers push nonsense practices, why theres this industry wide (at pro level, not amongst indies) push for higher prices. Theyve built their brands on the back of high profile ips with high production and hype but the landscape changed and someone like zynga often profits more then most AAA titles in a year with cheap dumb lower effort products

PS: even at more units its less then mobile bs.
Also more units mean surefire hits only- no room for experimentation or risks, reason why 90% of AAA titles are the same old fps reskined, openworld filler clones and so on.

................

Im just being realist. This isnt about liking it nor me defending then, its just that the market and landscape have been shifting and as things progress we will have one result or another, no in-between. Either prices go up and we keep getting this amount of high budget titles on pc every year or the prices dont go up, bigger titles become rarer or console exclusives and the ones we get are just the ones that convince their shareholders being worth the investment- namely live services, full of lootboxes, nft pushs, all the bad stuff.

That Star Wars Fallen Order we got for example- it did well, and above EA projections but still nowhere near their other titles. The only reason EA went with fallen order is because they shelved 2 other star wars projects and by contract they would loose the terms of their deal with disney. They went foward considering a possible loss even just to hold on to the ip.

you are absolutely correct, except for the "NEED" part. its just greed. they can all go to mobile market and slot machines for all i care.
all these ROI/shareholder corporate either killed great franchise/studio, or just stopped making games i care about years ago
they are becoming too big to care about actual improvement and its just numbers to them, they are adding no value to the tech. everything is just a colored template.

now GOW is great, and Sony got its ROI with its platform and ecosystem. and Porting the game cant be on the same scale as making one.
so that price is not justifiable, they simply lose on sales due to competition on PC.
you were gonna buy it regardless of price, others want to but cant afford. would it not be better to sell more for less?

I wish i didnt care like you. Theres a somewhat thriving indie scene now (risky nowadays) but few big publishers, and good studios being scooped up by sony or micosoft (at least microsoft means it comes to pc soon). If there were more newcomers i would be glad to see the old ones go make their cash elsewhere.

But also theres ips i care. Konami is a good example (of worse case scenario), holding silent hill and metal gear and their focus? freaking pachinko machines. When ip holders shift focus we fans end up loosing. Valve, despite being one of the best, shifted away from games, sitting confy on top of steam`s cut and chasing hardware... and now Tf2 (one of my top favorite games of all time and top one i most played) is pretty much abandoned, half life never got its episode 3 and the latest was made to push vr only.

Money wise releasing higher ends up working better then otherwise. Even indies do it- even if they project to sell around 10 or 15, they start at 20, 30. Discounts can always be made and price lowered across time, its the usual and expected, games can and do get lower- but higher never.

If i headed a studio i would launch a bit higher then our median projection to ride the launch wave a little better

I agree with you and i think they share the same idea- its only they wait a bit longer before applying discounts. If im not mistaken cyberpunk 2077 was like 50% off 1 year later or sooner then that
