Sony said they wouldn't implement any form of online DRM, not that the console would be DRM-free. Also, all of the games released for the PS4 will use some form of DRM, even first-party games. They'll have some form of disk-based protection, to stop files being copied and burned to disks.

I think Microsfot is trying to force down our throats their view of the "future", where everything is in the cloud and you're kind of renting your licenses. They started with office 360.

I am sympathetic to your suspicions, and they have crossed my mind too, but I don't think they are accurate this time. The gaming community's frustration with Microsoft is based entirely on things Microsoft has said or done in regards to its upcoming console. Sony has been very understated in its response to Microsoft's sometimes intentionally misleading presentations.
Worst case scenario is that Sony has hired shills to stir up the gaming community against Microsoft. However, I am confident I would be entirely as disgusted with Microsoft if I had not read a single comment by another online user or spoken to a single friend about it. It's just that offensive.
And, if anything, it seems to me that it is Microsoft, not Sony, that is encouraging the most tribalism amongst gamers (XBox users vs Playstation users).

it took MS a year to shut down their servers for their original Xbox.
i dont see why they wont do the same with the others in order to push their members into moving over to their new system.
he evades questions & this whole future talk is a bullshit salesman pitch. if they are limiting long time members & people around the world, then how are they suppose to play if that happens in the future? if they cant provide this service now, then why buy a system that sits there in hopes that it can magically work in the "future." they have no time period of when this "future" happens. i dont get the salesman pitch about a future technology that isnt already provided for these people in these restricted areas. it ridiculous.
