I am installing sourcebans and it requires the folders to not be read only I am running windows 7 proffesional and everytime I uncheck the read attribute in the properties it remarks it read only. I have already tried this attrib -r +s drive:<path><foldername> and I have already taken ownership of it. Sorry no giveaway I am low on cash right now. Probably not the best place to post this but I need help and I know some of you have your own servers.

Folders can't be read-only in Windows, only the files in it.

Is there any actual issue with sourcebans... or are you assuming that it won't work just because the folder has read-only marked on it ? Most likely there's a hidden system file in that folder which is read only, therefore the folder has a read only mark... but that doesn't mean you or sourcebans can't make new files there.

And did you google your issue with sourcebans ? Or maybe post in the sourcebans forums or something... why here of all places ? XD

if the folder has a black square in the read only box, then the folder is not read only, this only means that there is a read only file within. Your problem likely stems from the fact that the program needs to have administrator powers to write to that location. Either give the program administrator powers, or move/reinstall the program somewhere other than the program files folder.

C:\htdocs\TechSyntax\source that is the location the problem is the installer is run through the browser and the error it is giving is that the folders are not set to read/write. There is no way to set th eprogram to have administrator power besides being logged in to an admin account. It has worked on other computers/servers i put it on. for your reference this is the installation manual http://www.sourcebans.net/manual/

Have you tried taking ownership on "Auditing" tab yet? "Permission" only doesn't help with system folders, you have to take ownership of those folders through "Auditing".
