I'm Azralynn, and I make quick, informative reviews in a straight-forward, get-to-the-point manner on YouTube.
Along with these videos, I also create written reviews on both my website and on my Steam curator page.

I understand that many of you won't check out my content, but I would be super grateful if you did. :)

Good luck on the giveaways! Train starts here!

I started streaming recently, and plan to do it a couple times every week. Problem is that I don't have good enough internet to handle 1080p @60fps (yet), so in the mean time, which do you guys think is better?

1080p @30fps
720p @60fps
Depends on the game (please explain in comments)

If you're playing CS:GO or competitive games 720p60fps is way better than 1080p30fps but if you stream games like I don't know outlast 2 maybe which is released recently, 1080p will be better in my opinion

Makes sense. I recently did Outlast 2 at 1080p30fps and no one complained.

Watching and playing are different, if I watch something, I'd rather have a higher res than a higher FPS.

So, you prefer the 1080p 30fps when watching? (Damn, I hope fiber was finished installing soon...)

Well I'd prefer 1080p 60fps, but given the choice of 720p 60 or 1080p 30, I'd rather have 1080p 30. There are only a few reasons I watch other people play games. If it's a game I think I might be interested in, I'll look up a let's play and skim it a bit. In this case I would rather see the full resolution to know what it looks like. If I'm looking to check out a mod for a game, pretty much the same reason as before. The other few occasions where I watch someone else play a games is usually if it's games I play or have played, gor example, games that have lots of reactivity or replayability, like an RPG where I couldn't possibly experience everything myself. I still prefer the resolution over the frame rate.

I usually don't have a problem with 1080p 60fps on YouTube, but sometimes it will drop to 720p 60fps and I notice the difference immediately. Sometimes refreshing or forcing it to 1080p instead of auto works, but it bothers me so much that if I can't get it back to 1080p I will bookmark it and try again later.

Playing games is the usually the opposite. If I have to, I will drop image quality to get higher frame rate for action games, FPS, etc. where the input lag at 30fps vs 60fps makes a difference.

Just curious, do you watch in fullscreen or windowed? Also, what sort resolution for your monitor?

I mostly watch full screen if it's a game. My monitor is 1080p, although it's been acting up and I may have to get a new one soon. I'm not sure if I'll go with higher resolution or stick with 1080p. If I'm watching something else and/or I don't watch full screen, I watch in theater mode which is 480p. I'm also on the "old" YouTube theme. It has tried to switch me to some new theme a few times. I give it a chance, but I didn't like it and went back to the old theme. It hasn't tried to switch me in a while, so either they gave up on me or abandoned the theme. That new theme's theater mode was 720p though.

bump. Sorry I can't help much regarding resolution. I don't watch videos much so am not your target audience.

Have a bump. I personally don't really mind, since I mostly pay attention to the streamer and not the game, but I think that better fps is better, since I'm not sure how many people actually watch at 1080. I will probably be informed that a lot of them do, and higher resolution is better for downscaling purposes, but between the two, I'd say go for the better frame rate.

Bump. I've been subscribed to the YT channel for a while now, but didn't know about your Steam group or curatorship. Regarding resolution and FPS, I'm more interested in the content, and with recent network slowdowns, my YT playback may be automatically adjusted to something lower anyway.

I've recently started telling people about my curator more in anticipation of whatever Steam Direct changes come to improve it. :) That's one of the reasons I like YouTube more for streaming, people can lower the settings if they need to, not like when I stream on Twitch.
