Alan Wake you don't even have to wait for the Steam Summer Sale for, I'm sure you can find it super cheap to trade for somewhere.

There are a bunch of cool Source mod horror games. You can find pretty much all of them on Desura.

For most of them you only need Half-Life 2 to play them.

Cry of Fear is pretty spooky. I'm only like 30 mins in I think but the beginning is very interesting. Free on Steam so might as well try it out.

Bioshock 1 & 2, though they are not horror games they still have a creepy athmosphere and can creep you out. As a bonus the stories are great!

The Penumbra series, it was made by the same people that did amnesia. I also like the F.E.A.R. games and condemned.

Homecoming is a buggy piece of trash.

Yup, after part 4 (The Room) the Silent Hill games suck. Which is too bad because they were some of my favorite games but now I hate seeing a new game get released because I know it's going to be worse than the last.

I heard Origins was pretty good, and I was just about as much in love with Shattered Memories as with the first four games. Hell, I think I'll replay it again.

That being said, if you want to pick up Homecoming, only play it on the hardest difficulty. It gives a tense atmosphere at least like that, and the boss fights will become really interesting, yet not unfair. It's not a good SH game though, but it is a decent one if you don't look for the same level of entertainment as the original games had.

I had a bug near the end of the game that caused items to disappear rendering me unable to finish. I didn't have a 2nd save file so I had to restart the entire game. >_<

Not really. Homecoming was first step in downfall of SH franchise, only good thing about the game was that it still had Yamaoka, everything else (story, gameplay, graphics) was terrible and rushed. I just listed it because it is the only SH game on Steam at the moment

If it didn't have any bugs and wasn't a SH game it would still be ... decent at best.

The only horror game I've played and enjoyed would be Alan Wake, but I guess that one's might not really be classified as horror?
