i think it'd be cool if you had the option to have multiple entries. Like, if you REALLY wanted portal, you could pay 20p for two entries, 30p, for 3, instead of just 10 for 1. Thoughts on this? Also if this got suggested and shot down, anyone mind linking to the thread?

It has, but I can't find it.

How is or isn't this exploitable with the current point system?

It got shot down, but I'd like this for those rare Warhammer 40,000 giveaways

A potential benefit is that it might encourage hoarding of points, meaning fewer entries overall and thus, increased chances to win.

Yeah, I think this would give people more opportunities to win the games that they want. A lot of people just toss their points in a ton of really cheap giveaways hoping they win SOMETHING. If i was able to put 4 entries in skyrim if I stockpiled 300 points, I totally would!

I still really like this idea. It makes way more sense to me.

I love this idea. Skyrims and Space Marines would have insane amounts of entries, but overall you'd get better chances.

I like this idea. I don't see how it would be any more exploitable than the current system, and it would allow people to give themselves a better shot at winning the games they REALLY want, in stead of just spreading their points as much as possible.

This actually isn't a bad idea. Like has been said, it will encourage people to save up points.

+Less people will enter giveaways just to enter them.
+People will have a great chance of winning games they really want, whether it be due to have points to put in multiple entries or due to less people entering.
+Many people will put all of their points into one giveaway for a game they really want, further reducing the competition for other members.

-May increase an influx of fake giveaways, due to trolls wanting to screw people over even more than normal.

There are always going to be fake giveaways unless points are awarded after confirmation.

But- your other points stand. Let people aim for the submissions they want instead of just diluting the pool to get rid of points they don't need. I really see no reason not to do this.

I also think this is a great idea. Right now a lot of people are entering giveaways that they don't really want, just to use up their points. It's pretty funny to see comments like, 'I guess I might try this' when people enter. Why can't people use their points towards extra entries for the games that they want? We all have the same maximum, and we can all do it, so it seems fair and reasonable to me.

Some people already have multiple entries with several accounts :3

If they did this, then I think they would have to make it impossible to withdraw from giveaways. Otherwise you could easily store up as many points as you wanted to indefinitely by keeping a ton of entries in the long, expensive giveaways, and then moving them to another giveaway when that one is about to expire. As long as issues like that, and any other issues people can think of are dealt with, then I support this idea.

A better alternative would be to make the point cap also take into account the points you have "invested" in open giveaways.

That could work, but then long giveaways would be somewhat pointless.

Or perhaps, put a limit on how often you could withdraw, or the giveaway must be X old to withdraw, etc.

I think would be better, if 1st entry costs 10p, 2nd 11p, 3rd 12p, for example.

Then you'd have the ability to put in dozens of entries in giveaways... that seems awfully excessive.
