I'd recommend the Palit GTX570 Sonic Platinum, if you manage to get a good price for it.
Slightly OC'd, stabile as stock, it's a beauty and a beast.

Srsly ? I'd suggest the 7 series radeon.. Oh well, i am pretty much ati fanboy. :D

Its getting a little late with buying previous fermi and 6 series radeon cards. If you really want to buy something right now buy the evga 560ti classified 448 core. Its $300 and has a power of gtx570 with higher oc capability. Or you could wait for kepler from nvidia or the lower end 7series cards from ATI

Yeah excellent choice. You can pick up a Zotac for 325$ or the Asus version (AS-GTX57DC) for 345$, which has some nice cooling on or the Gigabyte OC model GA-N570OR2, which also has some really quality cooling on, is also priced 345$.
I would personally spend the 20$ extra and go for the Gigabyte card GV-N570OC-13I REV2.0, as it's cooling is very silent, it's pre-oc'ed, is dual slot and not tri-slot like the asus card, plus it tends to OC quite well, if you are into that sort of thing.

Well done Cult (just saying because I have one myself - and running a multiplier of 42 gives shitloads of extra powahhh, nice for folding). What's the rest of the rig looking like? Already settled on anything else (apart from case and mobo)?
I hope you plan on getting an SSD, because those things are mighty fast and give the biggest improvements over the rest of the computer in terms of responsiveness. (Drawbacks of the SSD effect: any other non-SSD computer will make you want to obliterate it for being so f'ing slow.)

meh, save it for something better.
I would only trade a 33% for it.

I'm also buying the pieces of my computer right now. I've got the case and PSU right now and the first GPU and RAM are on their way. I've got to wait until I get paid for me to buy more.

You will.
My last CPU was a C2D 2ghz generic etc on a desktop, I upgraded to i5 3.0ghz turbo boosted, pretty much awesome overall.
However I think laptops are much better than desktops.

Nice, congrats for the first part! It's a decent and fast CPU, like almost every one "Sandy Bridge".
What other parts are you planning to get (except the case of course XD)?
