In a perfect world...

In a perfect world, EA's games will return to steam, Anno 1404 - Gold Edition will come to steam, Heroes of Might and Magic III & IV will be available on steam and maybe, just maybe, Blizzard's games will be available on steam. But, it is not a perfect world.

What would be your perfect world? :)

Well first of all, you fly helicopters, no driving is involved.

I can afford skydiving right now actually.

You would be buying a rather rubbish football team for a couple million.

Buying the whole Steam store is something I could probably afford right now too.

In a perfect world, where all games were DRM-free, where services like Steam or Origin only act as store fronts or game hubs, and PC ports were actually optimized to run well on PC.

And all developers goes bankrupt. DRM-free wont really work mate. I think steam is a brilliant idea as i know several ppl who start buying games because of it instead of sailing in a ship.

But DRM-free games will increase pirating. It would be easier.

In theory. In practice, the more draconian the DRM, the faster a pirate copy is available (e.g. The release of SPORE.)

That's not to say that DRM shouldn't be used, it's just that it should be something relatively unobtrusive that doesn't do anything without telling the user about it and (depending on the user's preferences) actually provides decent side benefits. Kind of like Steam is now.

Once any DRM system is cracked, which is inevitable, the product IS DRM free for anyone that wants to use the exploit.

Doesn't make it steam compatible. Heck, some Win7 Compatibility would be nice to be able to play windowed, or in HD (There is a mod for HD), and without disabling aero.
