Sherlock is a must watch by itself. And then there's Benedict and Martin and Moffat in it who only make the need to watch even more urgent.

But can they unhiatsu already, please?

I was really mad when I saw the other day that fourth season was postponed for another year. Gap between season is really too long.

Don't watch much TV but Supernatural is good. Also agree with Game of Thrones (though books are better). Try first couple seasons of American Horror Story. HBO's Rome was good. Can't think of too much more than those...

The new Daredevil show on Netflix is really good. Also, it isn't a show, but if you like subtle drama then try Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. It's on Netflix too, and it's tremendous.

+1 for Daredevil, it was my favourite show this summer. TTSS was good too, though maybe a little too slow for my liking (but perhaps that was the point).

Yeah, TTSS was definitely kind of understated. But man, so well put together and acted.

Ill say Game of Thrones, Spartacus and the newer Battlestar Galactica.

You should watch (in no particular order):

  1. Sherlock
  2. Doctor Who
  3. Elementary
  4. Vikings
  5. Black Sails
  6. Game of Thrones
  7. Gotham
    edit: also:
  8. Heroes
  9. Lost

I do not recommend:

  1. Arrow
  2. Flash
  3. Supernatural
  4. Other stuff I can't recall because it's 1 am here.

Why I don't recommend? Poor Acting.

The poor acting in arrow is one of my favourite parts! Like the drug dealer who seemed like he was trying to be the joker!

I also like that none of the Italian mobsters show any sign of being Italian, and that 19 year old IT pro Felicity knows whatever academic field the writers need her to know that week.

I tried, but I didn't make it through the first season of that show.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

All of those are valid complaints (Especially the Felicity one), I just like the charm of the show in general I guess.

But if I were to choose something to complain about, it'd be the way they go about the romances. Especially the younger characters.

I like superhero stuff a lot, but I couldn't take Arrow. It's a lot of things about it, among them the acting, the dialogue, the plot. I don't want to rag on a show you love, but I liked Daredevil a whole lot better. I seemed like a higher quality production all around.

Loooove Smallville.

Man.

I'm a DC fangirl to death.

Do you not like superpowers?

Don't even kid with me here, son. I love superhero stuff (I'm currently reading TT Vol. 3. It's so good) but I can't, for the love of me, stand bad acting. It kills me from the inside out.

I'm a big DC comic fan too. That may be why what they did with Huntress on Arrow bothered me so much.

Did you watch Daredevil though? Not DC, but the performances, esp. from Vincent D'onofrio, were really good.

Yes, I did! My friend told me to. I haven't finished it yet, watched only a couple of episodes, but I liked it a lot, so far! :D

Do you perhaps mean "watch out"? Because you did confuse me a little there haha

Too much time travel, sorry. I meant you should continue the show at least until you see the episodes that involve time travel. In one of the later seasons they go back to the island in the 50s or something and nuke it. It's pretty awesome.

That's indicative of poor writing. Doesn't matter how good of an actor you are, if the writing is utter wank there's only so much you can do with it.

As someone who is really enjoying the show a lot... You are just plain wrong there. The drug manufacturer seemed like he was TRYING to be joker levels of insane, without any reason (Also, the voice he puts on is so clearly faked), I could provide more specific examples if you'd like? (Just finished season 1 a few hours ago)

Ok, I didn't even think of Joker at any point. I thought he seemed more like a vampire. He was one of my favorite baddies from the series tbh.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I guess I could see that, but either way it doesn't make sense for him to be acting like a vampire except to make the character seem "edgy". Don't get me wrong, I am loving the show! it's just that about 60% of the acting is terrible.

Well, people can act weird irl. I just thought he wanted to act like that because "he thought it was cool". I try not to overanalyze stuff, and take it at face value.

The books were actually a large part of the show too, so they're kinda meta. They might just have been written by god too, you know. From what I learned in the show, however, I imagine the books end with rather a bum ending.

Like, one of the main characters stuck in hell worse than hell kinda ending.

Battlestar Galactica, definitively. Also Vikings.

For some good comedy, Archer, or Bojack Horseman. Or both, in that order.

I won't repeat the ones that have already been mentioned. With that said, you need to watch Black Mirror.

In short, it's a television anthology series that shows the dark side of life and technology. It's amazing.

+1 for this. Black Mirror is tremendously well put together and smart. The stories are unsettling and give you something to mull over. It reminds me of the original Twilight Zone in some ways.

Though the episodes will sit in your soul like a stone sometimes. (They get pretty dark.)
