I don't know how to type this, my english is still a bit rough,

but is there someone who has the same problem like I do?

It's kind of annoying me, a lot. When people have already played it, but I'm just sitting here doing nothing until steam gives me a CD key.

I think this problem is kind of the same as the one with Splinter Cell: Blacklist on steam.

edited, thanks Aly

What the fuck are you even trying to say

I don't think I ever had this many problems trying to understand broken English

Edit: Whats with the being rude to me now cryingpanda

For real though, I don't understand what OP is trying to ask, I am having massive problems understanding him at all.

Could someone translate this for me?

It would be better if you mind your language. Not everyone is born with a mother tongue of English.

It's unbelievable how rude you are to people just because they don't speak native English. You need to grow up.

It's just that your rudeness was uncalled for! The OP mentioned his English was bad...and yet you berated him instead of helping him out!

Your post almost seemed like you were picking on him, however plain text can easily be misunderstood! So I apologise for my own rudeness!

Rudeness that was unintended.

Mandarin is the most spoken language because there are so many people in china. If it's language by square km, English would probably beat both Mandarin and Spanish.

11 years ago

Even by sq. km it seems English would not be on top! I can understand why people think that, though! Most people probably haven't even heard of my country!

Mandarin - mainly spoken in China, Taiwan, Singapore

China = 9,706,961 km²

Taiwan = 36,193 km²

Singapore = 710 km²

Total = 9,743,864 km²

English - mainly spoken in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, South Africa, Singapore, Philippines

Australia = 7,692,024 km²

USA = 9,826,675 km²

South Africa = 1,219,912 km²

Canada = 9,984,670 km²

etc etc etc...

I thought you meant pop./sq.km at first! Anyway, sq.km is a really bad way to estimate no. of English speakers.

For example Australia is massive but its insane how few people live there! The US has so many immigrants, that many of them don't speak English or speak it badly. Canada has a LOT of French speakers. South Africa has a huge African population and they even speak Dutch.

Anyway, I get your point so no need to reply! This is not the best place for statistical debates!

I was honestly trying to understand what OP was saying, you are honestly being rude to me now :(

I ment my post honestly, I can't understand what OP is trying to say and I don't recall insulting OP or telling him to learn English properly. I ain't a native English speaker neither, am I not allowed to express myself the way I want, especially if I never intended to insult anyone?

Your first line is "What the fuck are you even trying to say"

Your last line is "Could someone translate this for me?"

I think anyone would take offense to what you wrote. Just have a little courtesy next time or avoid the topic altogether and people won't be so "rude" to you.

...guy had no idea what he was even asking, he said so hoping for clarification >_>

unless he edited significantly(beyond the obvious "whats with people jumping on me" part) it seems fairly apparent. I am confused(only crazy people take offense so easily. the op didn't it would seem)

although in this case the translation problem was actually that he had never heard of the problem before so he assumed the meaning didn't come across

He could have asked: I don't understand you, could you please re-phrase the question?
But nope, it ended up being: What the fuck are you saying? Someone else translate this shitty English into English that I understand.

It doesn't matter from what angle you look at it, that's just rude. But it's all said and done now, at least he understands what he did.

Yes, but others are free to respond how they want too, it works both ways. Even if you didn't mean something it doesn't always absolve you of all responsibilities.
And if you don't want to be seen as a dick write more like you currently are than your original response.

Well, Trucker says his mother language is Russian, and the Russian culture tends to be rather more direct than most others, and that is often mistaken for rudeness.

sorry for the broken english xD

but seriously, is that even matter? -_-

11 years ago

Comment has been collapsed.

(in summary: no. Your english was fine and readable)

it does if it gets in the way of understanding. (personally if unsure of myself or using a translator I'd include in the post a copy in the native language to try and ensure meanings get across instead of just saying english is rough)

although in this case it was more confusion over a little known problem than actual language barrier. the english was good enough, don't worry

the issue was just that some people don't know the cd key has to be requested and can run out while they continue to sell steam keys regardless of stock. they think if you have a steamkey you've already got a cd key for it so thought that wasn't what you meant to say (one would assume steam wouldn't sell keys for products they do not currently have without warning but apparently they do)

11 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's fine, I simply haven't heard of the issue before and therefore was very confused.

Apologies for unintended rudeness!

11 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Wow, rude. I understood what he is trying to say. Basically, he can't play Assasins Creed 4 because he need a CD key which Steam hasn't given to him yet.

11 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

which is a point of confusion for those who haven't heard of that sort of issue before, and given the op's post they think a translation failed(in which case[translation fail] somebody must ask for a rewrite for the op's own good.)

Generally those types of questions in perfect english get replies of "but you have a key, enter it in your library. click games up top and then activate product on steam" or "try right clicking on game in your steam library and see there is view cdkey option." because people don't know this problem exists.
combine relative obscurity with the op's statement that his english is rough and "i have no idea what you're trying to say" happens

was maybe a little blunt, but with the way profanity gets tossed around anyway these days...its rather meh if it was intended to give offense so I don't think it was

to translate/clarify: steam is out of activations for ac4, same thing happened awhile back with rome total war. you have a key which puts it in your library but when you try to install it says something about requesting keys and doesn't work. you're left with nothing to do but wait until they get more activations (and steam support can provide no ideas as to when that will be if they even manage to get back to you within the month and if they actually read before replying with boilerplate. so he came here to see who else had the problem. (although the steam forum for the game may be slightly more productive?))

If I understand what you mean, then you probably need to wait at least until Monday, as both Valve and Ubisoft probably don't work in weekends.

Contacting Steam Support might be required to, as this could be some weird bug.

Try right clicking on game in your steam library and see if there is View CD-Key option. If there is use that CDkey where it asks.
I got no clue what you're saying so i'm just guessing.

Requesting CD Key....

by which he means that steam ran out of the cd keys, so when you click there it says only "Requesting key" (until the shipment of keys arrives at steam hq so they can be distributed by carrier pigeon. which takes a very long time because hawks get half the birds, he came here because steam support is a rock with googly eyes glued to it.)

If you get a ubisoft game on Steam you have to use your Key twice, first time on steam an then Uplay. When you play the game will open both programs too.... Steam and Uplay, so if you hate this you can just open your Uplay.

I am assuming, from the way it read, that the OP is saying he's in the same boat as those of us that recently bought Fable 3 for $5 - Steam has run out of CD keys for the game, so you could purchase it, and even download the game, however when you try to run it, it attempts to contact Steam's server to actually assign you your key and fails because Steam no longer has any remaining unique CD Keys to assign to people to let them actually activate and PLAY the game.

To the OP: So far we've been waiting 10 or 11 days already for our keys for Fable 3, and still nothing... So, I wouldn't expect this to be resolved any time soon honestly.

actually i've received the CD Key

but here's the problem:

i played it on my laptop, and i received the key, and then redeem it on UPlay. but when i switched to my computer it begins to requesting the CD key. at first i think it's not a big deal, but when i logging in my UPlay account, and click the Play button, it's accessed to my Steam account and still requesting the CD Key.

and after i switched back to my laptop, i already have received the key! and i can play it on my laptop!

but seriously, my laptop req isn't compatible with the AC IV system requirements. and now, how can i play the game!?

and, i'm still here doing nothing

yes, i've redeemed the key, and the game is on my UPlay account and can be played on my laptop.

but...

when I switch to my PC, it even asks for the CD Key again. i tried to click play button, but the game isn't working D:

How do you run out of CD Keys?

There was less keys than copies sold? So bad planning from publisher.

When the publisher only gives you so many of them and then you sell out. They generate the keys, not Valve, so they need to wait for more.

i think it's not about the run out of CD Keys but it's about why steam still requesting the key that i already got one instead of let me playing the game?
