Why do they even bother? In my entire life I have never been to a pub which doubled its drink prices the moment Happy Hour struck, and I've been to some frankly dreadful pubs.

I suppose, but dicking around with group buys and Paypal payments represents risk and, more importantly, unnecessary hassle in order to save a dollar or so. I would only want one copy at most, and it seems an awful lot of inconvenience for that.
To continue the pub analogy, perhaps if all 40 people in the pub teamed up to buy drinks, they'd save a bit of money, but for all the hassle of collecting money from everyone, it would barely be worth the grief. Better for the landlord to offer decent Happy Hour prices in the first place, rather than pissing customers off with underhand pricing tactics.
It's BS, and whatever the circumstances, IndieGala should feel very bad about this practice.

It's actually not that big of a hassle if you're 'teaming up' with the right people. I think a lot of people were using this method to get cheaper bundles (3-4 times cheaper than normal BTA prices, not just a dollar) so IG decided to inflate the HH BTA prices more and more to earn more moniez from it. I don't like their practices but as long as I can get cheap games from them by using this method, I probably will buy it. That is, until HIB company becomes so big that it overtakes Steam and bans other bundle sites :3

It's a thing that Indie Gala does. Someone who bought a complete bundle in the first week can buy bundles "as a gift" and get four for the price of one. So people take orders for them and then when a happy our comes, they buy a bunch and sell them to people so a lot of people can benefit from the cheaper bundles. The price becomes between 1 and 2 dollars per bundle compared to the full price for the bundle.
