Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light! :D And many more!

Kentucky Route Zero, Sword & Sworcery, AC2, and Shadowrun: Returns had the most immersive and interesting/enjoyable environments I can think of right now.

Because Bioshock Infinite isn't really deeper than a screenshot of it. Looks nice, but I got the entire picture after 30 seconds of looking at Columbia.

^ The force is strong with this one.
Add in Heavy Rain to that list too, it is drowning in atmosphere.

Mafia I was the first (and for long I thought only) game that really-really got to me, both as the atmosphere, and emotionally through the story.
THEN!!!!!
Tomb Raider 2013. That game have some shortcomings, painfull multiplayer, but the single player's atmosphere was just stunning. This whole japaneese culture with tribal crazyness, and the rusty battered island. Was amazing. A lot of little things like candles, shrines, decorations on walls are so well done, it really does took me there. Alto the story wasn't as coherent, and epic as Mafia I, it was good enough.

I agree. Fable was something special, it had this kind of a strange and sinister aura which I still adore to this day. Too bad I never finished it, I even have it installed and my save file is still available as well... but I'm just gonna do another (third) playthrough. But this time I'm gonna last until the very end. Thanks for reminding me of Fable.

Let's see... aside from all the mentioned ones (did anyone mention the first Deus Ex?) I'd say: KOTOR2 (actually both, but the second one is better by a mile); Mass Effect games; Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy); The Witcher (the first one mainly); Return to Castle: Wolfenstein; Operation Flashpoint; Dragon Age: Origins; Call of Juarez and surprisingly Black & White 1

I was playing sleeping dogs, and i like the atmosphere of the game, and i was wondering what games made you really feel their atmosphere, without regard for any other quality or lack thereof of those games ?
i also liked the atmosphere in Amnesia especially because of the sounds, dwarf fortress because of its mechanics and appeal to imagination via ascii, arcanum because of the music, war in the pacific admiral edition because of the details and a better understanding of the picture it gives, thief the first... Alien vs Predator first of the name managed to get me survival scared.
Immersion is fine if you prefer :-)
