I backed a few here and there. One of the most memorable was Out Of words. Clay animation/puppet co-op puzzle game (very excited). When I backed it in 2022 I told my dad I would probably have a wife and kid by the time it was out, and we'll yep. I was right lol. I also backed PEPPERED which I am giving away LVL 3.

I have also backed some other stuff, one wallet 5/10, sunglasses 6/10, and Ice maker 0/10 (awful), kitchen knife 10/10 killer blade, South Korean smoker 10/10, portable dishwasher that still hasn't been sent yet ;-; 0/10.

It has been some time since I last backed anything, and had been fortunate with completed projects.

  • Broken Age/Double Fine Adventure
  • Darkest Dungeon
  • Grim Dawn
  • Shadowrun: Hong Kong
  • Sir, You Are Being Hunted
  • Torment: Tides of Numenera
  • Wasteland 2

Though not quite all were successful.

I also backed a wallet, a keyring, coffee cubes, a movie - Ghosts With Shit Jobs - all received. Additionally (no reward) a kickstarter for cricket bars, where the company eventually pivoted to insect farming.

I backed TUG back in 2014 and it was a massive failure filled with empty promises. A couple years ago I backed Mina the Hollower which is a promising project from the team that made Shovel Knight (Yacht Club Games) that's scheduled to be released later this year.

Other projects I backed include a wireless N64 controller that is pretty good and also a magnetic phone charging adapter that was a scam and the backers never got the product.

I think I've only backed 2 actually released games (there was also a couple of failed projects, but I can't even remotely remember what they were), I do love what these Caps Lock fans from South Africa create:

I remember trying the demo of this game before it was released. It was great until I got to the platforming challenge, which made me hate the existence of everything.

Exactly why I am giving it away, I would definitely watch someone play it though ๐Ÿ‘€

Btw, didn't answer the initial question. I haven't really supported any kickstarter because of trust issues mostly, but when I see an interesting one I usually share it around so maybe more people gets to see it.

7 days to die, and i regret it, they gone out of early access and still have not made their promises and basically is now an unfinished released game (10+ years)

Yup, that's the one that made me stop buying early access games altogether. I had in the meantime brought one or another and very few deliver. Now I'll only buy any EA IF it's already good enough as a game that if it's left undone I won't feel robbed.

I have backed several board games (also on Gamefound). I haven't received them all yet, but the ones I have (HEXplore It, Veiled Fate, Ascendancy, Steam Power, Thunder Road) turned out pretty good. The rest of the ones I'm waiting for (Cysmic, I C E Unlimited, Horror on the Orient Express, Secrets of the Lost Tomb) all have given updates recently saying that they're still on track and that the tariffs aren't going to hurt them too much... interestingly, despite overwhelming numbers of pledges saying they would gladly pay more to cover the new tariffs so the companies don't lose money, they've all refused to charge more.

I have never backed a video game though, but that's only because I have very limited money and when there was a video game that looked interesting, I didn't have money until after the campaign ended. I would be willing to give it a try at some point, if the game was interesting enough and I had the money for it.

Backed a bunch on Kickstarter and they all turned to bite me in the ass; price, value, quality and "rewards" vise.

'Kickstarted' a few off-site, with worse results. Including, Dead Dozen. A FNTASTIC cash-grab.
The 'studio' responsible for The Day Before. So, I got to watch, knowing they'll do the thing they've done years prior.

I think the campaign failed so they never took the money. I later bought it on sale. Its very good and I enjoyed it.

I've funded a number of them. Some of them turned out great. Some of them were definitely duds. I still haven't even played many of them. One of them won't be released for awhile. I think this is my complete list (across multiple platforms, not just Kicksterter itself), but it's possible that I'm forgetting a few non-Kickstarter ones.

  • Wasteland 2
  • Wasteland 3
  • Pillars of Eternity ("Project Eternity")
  • Pillars of Eternity 2
  • SpaceVenture
  • Starlight Inception
  • Torment: Tides of Numenera
  • The Bard's Tale IV
  • Rad Rogers
  • Free Stars: Children of Infinity (I'm not optimistic that they'll successfully create a good modern game, but Star Control II was one of the best games ever, so I'll throw money at a proper sequel by the original creative team, even if it's had multiple nominal sequels/follow-ons from other developers that owned rights to the "Star Control" name over the years)

I generally only pitch in for games if I have some reason I want to support their developers. I always knew that if I wanted to, I could wait and get the game much cheaper after it's released.

I backed Sunset Devils. It isn't out yet, but the demo is fun and I can't wait to play the full game.
