Quite weak, considering how almost every month there has been extra discounts...

Yeah, it appears to be 15% discount in Euro zone.
Which sounds like a bad deal, seeing how usually you could snatch 2 euro discount without much problems, which would be 20% discount...

Yeah, I've brought only 4 months this year and twice 6€, one 7€ and the last 4.5€ so besides not wasting in weak months, it is cheaper.
I would say it's only worth for someone that uses humble library the whole year.

No to mention if it's another weak year like 2022 where I've only got 1 month.

It's about $8 a month, hardly weak, and guaranteed.

Considering how many people actually skip months... I think they mean that it's not a substantial discount to get them buying the bundle they don't really want to begin with. Like a comment before said they bought 4 bundles this year, it's hard to sell 12 months to somebody who wants 1/3 of it, at a discount. When I had month to month sub, I barely got coupons because I bought basically all months. 20% discount to get the same, and not having to jiggle cancellation/pause dates, claiming games before deadlines and possibly still not getting coupons is not a bad deal for me.

It's 45% off, right? If a month is usually $12 and some people get some offers for a few dollars off, a guaranteed rate of $8 is great. You can also skip months with this.

I missed some parts of the calculation, like the annual sub is already discounted compared to buying individual months.
Full price is 10€ here, and I can get the an annual deal any time for 109€ instead of 12*10=120€

Buying it with the coupon makes it cost 93€ - so it's a 16€ extra deal for signing up now, and an overall 22.5% discount compared to buying it month-by-monthy. (7.75€ instead of 10€).

Comment has been collapsed.

I'll definitely snack that. It's 93€ for me, so 7,75€ per month. That's a good deal for me and what I get, plus the option to skip if I don't like it for that price.

Still living off my annual membership from 3 years ago, which I'm pretty sure I got for less. Only used 5 out of 12 months so far 😄
I guess since you always have the flexibility to skip monthly, it could be a decent offer if you don't have any ongoing membership, but otherwise it doesn't sound like you're saving much.

if I am going to pick them up anyways... might as well get some form of discount.

I don't like trying to bank on getting coupons.

I've been on a monthly subscription since 2019. Aside from having a discount of £3-4/month do you get additional benefits? I get the 20% on purchases.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Bear in mind, the 20% off only works if you buy/activate the choice every month.
As for the other question - no other benefits.

Permalink

Yes, that's exactly what I've been doing for the past few years. I mean, getting it cheaper a little is not a bad deal.

When is the 20% on purchases ever cheaper than the lowest Steam sale price (be patient!) if you check SteamDB anyway? I mean... maybe once in a while you might save a dollar, but rarely.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I agree that sometimes you don't get the best deal, but I got that 20% on new released games while Steam was offering 10%. It's good then. I've also found other deals, but it's not always the most useful thing in the world, but it adds up on top of the sale if that's the case.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

See that's where being old has it's advantages. I could care less about "newly released."
Six months, a year, two years - goes by like nothing, and I have plenty of other things to do. Hell, I have games I bought years ago I haven't tried yet. I never buy new games when I can wait a few months or a year and save a huge amount.

That having been said, it's not like the old days. Used to be a spring release at $50 would be in the next Steam Winter Sale for like $15 or less. That doesn't happen anymore. Sales SUCK compared to how they used to be.

I don't know how old you've been in the game, so I suspect you know how Humble has been before 2019. I've just discovered it then and ever since then I've been increasing my library all the time.

How does this work? As I can't buy it for myself, If I buy it as a gift can I activate it myself later? Do I have to make another account then gift it to that account?

Can activate the gift whenever you want (as long as you don’t have 12 or more tokens already since max is 24)

Im conflicted. I haven’t paused this year and now have 20% choice discount, which is nice. But it’s $10 more than last year and coupons almost always go out (but they’re still a gamble).

I assume they gave you 1€ off when you've tried to pause. I got only once such offer.
Just pause, answer why you want to pause (I assume answer counts while they choose users who will receive coupons) and wait. Last 2 times I've paused right after new Choice was reviled and got $8, $7 and $6 coupons during the month.

did you wait until the last week of the month? they send better deals each week
did you cancel every month? cancel right away and the reason for cancel is costs 2 much

yes, till last hour.
When I pause, I dont get any offer.
I have to cancel to get 1€ off right on cancel. And even I canceled it right from start, no better offer comes.

That people would get a coupon to get the current Choice cheaper then the normal price, it's not for other bundles.

I dunno, i never received one but i used to redeem Choice every month up until 3 months ago and skipped 3.

IGN Humble Choice Coupon only for New Members aka accounts for Humble Bundle, but once again it's $8 choice coupon which means this coupon will be $8.25 per month = $99

You won't receive discounts every month. I skip or cancel often and guess what, this year I only received 2 discounts, one last month and one in March. So it varies, there's no guarantee that you will receive a discount for every month to ensure you have a $7 price. It's worth it since you can skip.

I have a discount every month. But rarely buy these days so it's possible that they will stop sending discounts if get choice frequently. Who knows

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I guess that's the issue for me. I buy once every 2-3 months, and I rarely receive any discounts. Then again I have 2 accounts, and on the one I didn't buy for a year I received the same discounts like the other account, 2 in a year. I heard Europeans receive less discounts so.. it is what it is.

I am in the same boat, I cant remember last time when Humble offfered me a discount coupon.
Seems risky for me to gamble on Humble providing me with coupons, best for me to get this offer as I do every time I see it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I agree. Sometimes they give you a discount, other times they won't. So for me, the best approach is to get this and pause when necessary. I forgot to pause one day and they got my money but because I didn't reveal any key, they refunded me. So even if you have issues, they will help if possible. I think the deal is solid. If they would force you to get every month sure, I would get it. But you can pause and just use this for the months you want, for years.
