I've reached level 30 in TERA, the free to play MMORPG. This game is surprisingly good for a free to play game, and I love the combat system. :D

Anyways, here's a giveaway to "celebrate" it.

I'm starting a new game to play with my brother, and right now I'm seriously considering inviting whoever wants to join to our game and get a guild together. :P

I'd love to join you guys but I am about to join the army for obligatory 9-month service (5 days left). :(

Have fun for me!

Well thanks for the Ga and congrats on reaching lvl 30. I never played TERA because it just seemed really different than what I played. The art style is weird to me and the gameplay just looks different. TERA looks like a game that you need to have a friends or a team to play with enjoy playing it, and I don't have that.

My brother is downloading the game and we might create new characters and play together if it runs on his system. Heck, if anyone's interested in playing with us, I'm sure he wouldn't mind. We're planning on starting our own guild anyways. ^^

Gratz.
how good is the story in Tera. is there any story?
consider i'm comparing eveything to SWTOR (and somewhat Wow) which had some great story arcs...

I really wouldn't know to be honest... Most of the story consists of wall of texts when you speak with NPCs, and I just skip everything... :x

But to be honest, I don't think the story is very deep or anything. It's hard to say since like I said, I just skip everything and move on to questing.

The story's very typical mmo stuff. The lore's slightly more interesting but nothing that hasn't been done before. Its good points are the graphics and action combat.

I played a whole lot of TERA. Spent loads of time leveling both a gunner and a reaper to max level. But, then I got bored and stopped playing.

Loved the combat system! And it was, to date, the most sexy game I've played. If there's ever an expansion, I might be back to give TERA another whirl.

And grats on 30!

I didn't really give Tera a fair chance because of the person I was playing with hated it right away. The combat was fun and I especially liked being able to pull so much at once while leveling. Maybe I will try again. :)

I tried a bit with some gun person. Couldn't figure out how to remap the gamepad controls (buggered hand, please don't start a gamepad vs keyboard / mouse argument) and the A button wasn't suited as a primary attack while aiming with the right stick.

At least it supports gamepads, but yeah.

Almost 900 hours not counting the ones I put in a couple of years ago when it went F2P. I'm on Ascention Valley server. What are you on?

At the time i started playing TERA, when it became F2P, it had a lot of restrictions if you chose not to pay a dime. Is it the same now? I've quit World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2 a long time ago and i'm looking for a good F2P MMORPG where investing money is 100% optional and without any important restrictions.

Well, I'm up to level 30 and still haven't noticed any P2W walls. Heck, even the "real money" store isn't that obvious and a bit hard to find at first.

From what I've seen, you can't purchase exclusive "real money only" equipment or gear. Only skins and clothing, and other cosmetic (which you have a character slots window specifically for applying them, separately from the gear equipment window).

Really can't see any restriction which required me to pay anything. Either I'm blind or the game changed since the time you played it. :P

Is that the MMO with the rubber-bandy woman on the character creator? I mean, their bodies swivel in the wind or something, looks quite unnatural.

I'm sure I gave it a bit of a try when I still played MMO's, well, still played on the PC. Which reminds me that I wanted to install EQ2 again before the server consolidation. I'll probably never get to it.

Tried it but wasn't a huge fan of it. I think I have just tired of MMOs in general. Congrats though! BTW when I saw the title my first thought was that you were promoted to a Support member here on SG!

Poterato

No, never played it, never heard of it till now in fact. I have days where I quite like MMORPG games so I may look into it, once my home internet is back up and running again.

Played it 'till level 20 or so. Didn't understand shit, couldn't get used to its combat and never played again. With this I came to the conclusion that I don't like MMO's it just happens that Lineage 2 is my favorite game ever.

I tried to play once, but 30GBs kept me away from it. Also because I've heard EU version is not as good as US one, and my internet connection is already bad enough for Europe.

Where's the selfie we all want?
I added Tera to my library when a news article went around saying that it's going to be removed from the store, but I recently removed it from my library as I never touched it and proooobably never will

I lost the interest after hitting lvl 65 but I had my fun with special events, going for achievements and trying out the costumes. Game still holds up rather well, looks beautiful handsome and the combat system was refreshing compared to other MMOs.

Now here are some pics of my sexy priest (something you don't get to say every day).

Very nice! I've only took a few screenshots myself, of which only that one is decent (excuse that shitty graphics, my GPU is struggling a bit).

I got to about lvl47, it got repetitive and boring, but the mechanics are above normal for an MMO of its type.

Played it back when it was in beta, then for a year or two after release. I was playing back when it had a subscription model. Had a cap level Berserker, Slayer, and Priest. Was a lot of fun for awhile. Just grew out of it, I guess. I might go back to it later when I get an MMO itch again.

For those interested in trying it out, it is entirely free-to-play. There is an in-game cash shop, but everything in it is purely cosmetic. Mounts, Hats, Weapon Skins, Outfits, etc. These items do NOT have any stats, so no bonuses are gained from wearing them.
