I'm looking for a film that's good on [narrative, setting, and/or character] depth (so romance, adventure, fantasy, sci-fi, drama. or coming-of-age would be some of the likely genres) but without getting too technical or overbearing (so no crime films or war films or thrillers or horror or tragedies) or shallow (so probably not too many offerings from the comedy, rom-com, or action genres).
I know that's a bit vague, but I'm hoping you all've got a few pocket gems that come to mind- films that you treasure or recall fondly that seem to fit the criteria above, but that others aren't too likely to know about.
There's no prize here other than my gratitude, but I figure I can't be the only one looking for a distraction today. ^.^
