I bought the original one from a shady dealer on the internet. He actually gave me the german cut version + a key for all dlcs, and they actually worked together - The game just upgraded to uncut. Maybe you can trying something like that too?

I actually got two or three of the dlcs. But since they are for version 1.03 and the german version wont get upgraded to that, they just dont work Thats part of the reason you cant buy the dlc in germany I think.

Hum, just checked my activation list on steam, and it is actually the world wide retail version. Sorry my mistake.
I learned that lesson after I bought half life 2 cut ( omg -.-***) and kane and lynch 2 cut (omfg-.-***). Well at least there aren't so many cut releases nowadays.

Good old Sleeping Dogs.... Shame devs\Square decided to rape and kill the frenchise by releasing a F2P mmo that doesn't have any multiplayer in it, its full of micro transactions, and its boooooooooooooring. (hint: game name is Triad Wars, don't check it out, its pure crap)

From what I've heard, Steam might have implemented timeout for region locks, ie. after few months from activation it gets unlocked or something like that.

I have a RUS/CIS version of Sleeping Dogs definitve edition, which was runonly in RU. suddenly it worked wherever in the world I am...
same for Risen 3 and for Max Payne 3. All my runonly games suddenly worked worldwide! this happened a few months ago.

Well, it might be time related, I bought my copy on may the 26th this year @GMG and realized that the lock was gone on september the 18th. But I'm sure that at least 3 months went by with it being locked. I'll try to verify this theory when I get my hands on a cheap copy of wolfenstein :>. Some posts above svenevil even said that every of his games that had a region lock in any way got unlocked, after it stayed in the library for a while. So I guess you'll just have to wait, or, well, play with a VPN.

It's hard to tell. Just to clarify: Manhunt does not have a geolock. Those row keys are not available for purchase in germany, thus rockstar may have thought they won't need to attach an activation lock in regard of regional laws. I think this is a publisher's choice.
If you want infos about the key, it may work out if you contact the vendor?
But I guess both sell the same keys in general.

I can run the game in germany, oh happy day.
I wonder if Squareenix changed that for all their cut titles?
Edit: Well I thought I'd bump the thread once as the game is on sale right now at GMG.
I never figured out why this worked, but apparently I'm not the only one who can now play the game in germany.
So the best bet is, that the geolocking vanishes after some time (3 months in my case). This is of course just an assumption, so purchase it at your own risk.
Please note that you still can't buy the game nor activate it with a german ip-address.
