GMG Region restricted key

I'm guessing that the keys they give out are valid for the region of the buyer. GMG could determine the key to give out based on your location even though they're based in the UK.

i got the game from someone who bought it on gmg from belgium and i redeemed the key in germany and i didnt had any problems.

its Dead Island GOTY (EU) tho

even if, these keys activate here. We just must not buy them in Germany. Probably an NA key. In that case the game website ata GMG ended on ~/Dead-Island-GOTY-NA. The EU version ended on -EU Maybe OP can check what site is displayed on his browser...

Once had a regionfree key from Saints Row 3 (wasn't from GMG though) which works fine in any country in EU excluding Germany. Kinda thought it might have been the same with Dead Island.

If it's the NA version, it can't be activated in the following countries:

It might come as a surprise to you but Skyrim and Dead Island are two different products.
