There's a small issue with that feature. It only counts the number of times the URL is given out, not the number of people who entered the GA. So there will always be some number of people who get the URL but don't enter for some reason, and that is a wasted slot.

I like doing short giveaways since it gives participants a better chance of winning.
I think it would be a great addition if while creating the GA you could (only if you want) specify a number of entries which once it's reached will stop the giveaway immediately and draw a winner.
Say you want everyone to have a 5% chance of winning, you'll just make the GA run untill 20 people entered. This would also help group/whitelist/invite-only giveaways reach 5 entries and award the creator CV since it will not stop before that happens.
To prevent giveaways that never end and also make it possible to place them in the browse-all section, they should still have a time range where they would end if they don't reach the specified amount of entries. (i.e. GA ends after 2 weeks or when there's 69 entries, whatever comes first)
