PD Artist 11 is currently free on SharewareOnSale for the next 7 days. Link here.

If you don't know what this is, "PD Artist is a digital paint program with fantastic natural media tools and color mixing".
PD Artist is also available on Steam but as a previous version, PD Artist 10, that goes for about 18,99€ as it can be seen here. This tool is very useful to create stuff like in the attached picture.

I recommend getting it, especially since it's free, even if it's just for playing around.
It's well worth learning to use it and you can create amazing stuff with it.

License Note: This is a 1-computer lifetime license, for noncommercial use.

Have fun and hope you like it. It's the perfect tool to very easily create your own wallpapers.

As per Sachys comment make sure to be careful to only select the software in the installer and not the notification tool SharewareOnSale tries to give you too.

LOL @ people blacklisting me for sharing free stuff. This site is awesome :)

Have fun with it! I especially like the terrain generation options and the things you can do with them. It's very easy to create fantastic environments.

Aye, it has some unique things about it. I've used it a fair bit in the past myself - right back to one of the early versions.

It was also available as version 9.6 in Groupees The Software Bundle #3. But it was a release candidate version buggy as hell.

Not that I know of. They've been pretty safe to use for a good while now. But a good rule of thumb is to always scan any installer no matter where it comes from and how trustable the source is.

Thanks for the heads up!

Note: Doesn't look like they don't give you a full offline installer though, only a bootstrap.

You're welcome. If you run that bootstrap installer you can choose to download the real installer in a folder of your choice. Just be careful to skip installing their notification tool if you don't want it.

SideFX Houdini is way better and you can actually land a job by learning it.

In my opinion, while more powerful and extensive, Houdini also requires a pretty steep learning curve to produce meaningful content. It's better suited for serious applications and less worth it for playing around, unless you dedicate a not negligible amount of time to learn it. In fact there are lots of powerful applications out there, many of them free of charge. But, the more, the merrier, because you can find the right one for you and your needs.
