Played Emerald some years ago, too bad I don't have the save file, but Twitch Plays Pokemon helped me remember how it was, I spent more than like 200h on this game lol. Don't have the cartridge version because I used an emulator, but I still have cartridges of Pokemon Red and Silver, + Game Boy.

Woooo, I'm so getting them now, and speaking about pokemon, has anyone bumped into the bug/glitch in Pokemon Y?

EDIT: clicky for some more information about it.

My favorite Pokemon game is Ruby.
Played them all(until HeartGold because my NDS broke up :( )

It's harder and harder to resist 3DS.

I might actually buy the 3DS now... how long would it last you think?

Don't think any new kind of Nintendo DS will be released soon hm?

Regarding the first question, we can never know for sure, but
GBA got Ruby and Sapphire/ FireRed and LeafGreen/ Emerald
Nintendo DS got Diamond and Pearl/ Platinum/ HeartGold and SoulSilver/ Black and White 1 and 2
Nintendo 3DS has so far gotten X and Y and will be getting Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

I personally believe that 3DS might get at least another set of games after the ruby and sapphire remakes.

And regarding the 2nd question, probably not in the very near future.

Black/white 2 were for the DS.

Yes, it can, but I assumed that you had played those already.

Remakes? Seriously? Every game itself is already a damn remake. It's the same game every time just with some new pokemon and a maybe new graphics. So now they can't even come up with new stuff they just remake old ones now? Wow... talk about sad.

You kinda have a point.
But heck it! It's Pokemon!!

If you don't play competitive then yes, they're pretty much the same. But well many rpgs are very similar.

The only ones that broke the mold were Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD. Colosseum was the best. Heartgold and Soulsilver at least changed things up with a second region to explore.

"Remakes? Seriously? Every game itself is already a damn remake. It's the same game every time just with some new pokemon and a maybe new graphics."
And? If it's not broken, don't fix it. A lot of games such as Half-Life haven't really changed at all since the first title.

"So now they can't even come up with new stuff they just remake old ones now? Wow... talk about sad."
"Now"? No, they've been doing this for awhile, it's been 10 years since the first remake released.
Also if you played the games you would notice that each generation is unique. While they're not massive improvements they still give the generation a unique feel.

Half life doesn't have what 10 games? Same thing with Mario. they had 1 or 2 "new" features and slap "NEW" on the box. It's a joke.

"Half life doesn't have what 10 games?"
It's still a series that hasn't changed from a gameplay perspective other than introducing a physics engine in Half-Life 2.

The fans and GameFreak are comfortable that the games don't bring any massive game-changing mechanics every new generation.

And so what if they're remaking and old game? It's something that the fans have asked for quite some time now so the market is definitely there, and the remakes just like the other two have been met with very positive response from the fans.

If your definition of sad "listening to the fans", then yes GameFreak is a depressing company.

"Same thing with Mario."
Where are you going with this conversation? Mario is a diverse franchise. The 3D platforming Mario games (64, Sunshine, Galaxy, 3D World/Land) play differently and you can't compare games like Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Party games for example to each other. So yes, Mario is a diverse franchise.

The only games I'm going to assume play similarly to each other are the 2D platforming games since that's the type of audience they're looking for.

I just hope they don't change the music too much. The Aqua/Magma grunt theme is still the best pokemon battle theme ever.

Enhanced graphics or they're gonna be remakes with the camera view and gameplay of X and Y?

Just like the previous 2 remakes, it will likely be using an upgraded engine from the latest pokemon games. Remake does not mean hd rerelease.

It feels so good to be able to say this in a non-meme referential context...

HOENN CONFIRMED! So happy. Was one of my favourite gens, I really loved the land of Hoenn, will be good to see what they do with it.

I'm probably gonna get these games...even though I've played Emerald version like a million times already. Need those secret bases...

The game is awesome and deserves a remake. This is also one of the only gens where I want to buy both games because of the different bad guy teams. Unfortunately, the titles are wrong. The remakes should be called:

Pokemon Raging Ruby

Pokemon Storming Sapphire

This makes more sense because of the rage of volcanic eruptions caused by Groudon and the storms caused by Kyogre.
This game will be more interesting with the new mechanics such as reusable TMs and Fairy Types. Hopefully, the return of the shock wave and iron tail TMs. I would love to see this have a graphic style similar to that of pokemon Colosseum. I also would like to see a Pokemon Colosseum 3D remake. (I know it can most likely be done due to the fact that the Gamecube discs could hold a maximum of 2 GB of data, the same for a 3DS cartridge. The only problem is incorporating the new mechanics (reusable TMs and Fairy Types), pokemon trading compatibility, graphics scaling, anti-lag programming, internet features, etc.

If this Gen 3 remake is going to be real, it had better not lag or have a wierd berry glitch or glitch like the lumiose city save glitch. I also don't want to see Rotation Battles and Triple Battles crippled by lag.

Actually there is a theoretical reason why it's called Omega-Ruby and Alpha-Sapphire.
Also the game will mostly be in 2D, with some areas being in 3D, as stated in the trailer. My guess is it will have framerate issues where 3D is applicable. :3

It's kind of sounding like it might be a sequel rather than a remake because they are advertising as a new adventure in a new land which just doesn't make sense if it's just a standard upgrade like the previous 2 remakes. What I think would be cool if they made it kind of Gold/Silver style and had a new island region with 8 badges and then after the elite 4 you took a boat to hoenn and did another 8 badges. But I'm guessing that's not what they are doing.

You may be onto something. Many youtube users theorize that the Gen 3 games were supposed to originally include Johto, as your character moved from that region. There were also unused Gen 2 soundtrack files in the game.

Nope, it's been confirmed that it's a remake. But it will still have something new, no doubt about that :)

Yeah I saw that confirmation just now. I wonder who thought it was a good idea to call Hoenn a new land lol.

Honestly I enjoyed Emerald more than Ruby and Sapphire. I spent well over 500 hours playing Emerald. I hope that they'll have a remake of that along with Ruby and Sapphire.

Judging from FireRed/LeafGreen and HeartGold/SoulSilver I doubt it's going to happen.

Weren't gold and silver remakes based more on crystal? That's what my brother told me, that it had all the improvements that crystal had, and the story was more based on suicune.

Glad to hear this, for sure I will get it. Ruby was after Gold one of the Pokemon games I enjoyed the most. Also hopping for them adding the Reggies mistery again, it was a fun thing to do.
