Hi!

The FAQ explain the relation between the user level increase and the price of the games in a giveaway in relative terms.
However, I would like to have some idea of absolute values.
For instance, how much should I spend to achieve level 1? Is it $1, $10, $100 or $1000?

Thanks!

The value of a game is based on how much it costs on the steam store. If the game has been bundled before however you'll only get 15% of the value added to your level. You can check if a game has been bundled here: https://www.steamgifts.com/bundle-games

These topics should be linked from FAQ/Guidelines!
Thank you very much!

I just would like to confirm if I understood correctly:

  1. With the first cent in gifts sent, the user achieves level 1.
  2. Bundle games are the only reason to make the real CV be different from the total price of gifts sent.

Is that correct?

  1. Yes
  2. I believe you're right, unless I missed something myself.

Edit: I missed something: the second reason for the real CV to be different from the total price is when you send more than 5 copies of a single game. After 5 copies the real CV of the other copies starts going down a bit. This shouldn't bother too many users, it mostly affects promotional giveaways.

100000000 for level 1 and 349123894671834618734618726387123 for level 2.

If you are asking how much do YOU need to spend in order to level up then that is more complicated. Non-bundled games give you 1:1 points to Steam $ price (so $15 = 15p). Bundled games give you 15% points to the Steam $ price (so $15 = 1p).

However, most bundled games can be purchased for less than 15% of their Steam $ price (i.e. those $1 bundles). Which is why you see a lot of cheap bundle games on SG. If you read the Deals discussions you will see some very helpful people creating topics for new bundles with tables and figures that let you know how much CV you will receive if you give away the entire bundle. For example this one is $1.99 for 5.991 CV which is approx $0.33 per CV. In addition there are multi-buy discounts, so 5 of this bundle would be $3.99 or 5*5.991 CV which is approx $0.13 per CV. Note that giving away more than 5 copies reduces the CV you get for each copy by 10% - cg gives a better explanation.
