Yeah, it's a pretty dumb system. How much protection does Steam need? I think, if you log on using a new device, an email should be sent, such that you can take action if it wasn't you that logged in. Otherwise, these delays are ridiculous.

I've been wanting to change my Steam password for a while, but if I do I'll be put on a 7-day trade hold. I'm started using the Steam Desktop Authenticator before the trade hold rule went live. I later bought myself an android tablet and want to switch to it for authentication, but if I do I'll get a 7-day trade hold. This shit is discouraging me from making my account more secure because I don't want to be put on a trade hold.

If you are going to do those, you might as well do both at the same time; the holds are not cumulative. Just plan ahead so you have everything already traded before you go.

I plan to do that, if I ever do it, but I can never find the time to do it because I'm constantly trading or looking for trades.
