Dont download it.
Write Steam Support, they will repack it in his inventory. so you can gift it to the correct account

This. As long as you never played it you can get Steam Support to fix it. If you played it even for a short time they will usually be a lot less helpful, but as long as you didn't you should be able to convince them to help you out.

I did this. I made sure I didn't download it, and I wrote to steam support already. We'll see what happens then. Also - mail gifting sucks.

Looks like the best idea , and i know a guy who did it so it probably will work.

Or, buy another copy and do the right thing.

if it was a steam gift send through mail you can redeem it on your browser

Ah touché. I'm just so used to doing things in trade in person (safer that way). If that's what happened he can only do one of the two things suggested: support or buy another.

You can talk to the creator.

Nah. That side is done. He needs to swap the user by either contacting support at steam or buying another copy himself.

I don't think he'll be able to do anything. He gifted me the game, I did the mistake. He did all he was supposed to to.

Steam support will do nothing, they would only remove the game. The only thing you can do is to buy the game yourself and activate it, else you'll get suspended soon.

Next time think more before you activate it on "your brothers" account.

actually it appears really simple his brother account was logged in the browser -> he redeems the gift through browser -> gift goes to brother account /thread

It did until I was reminded you can activate an email physical gift win carelessly if you're not paying attention.

So you were logged in your steam client, but your brother was logged in on the browser, the email that gives you the link to redeem the game would've ask you to log in with YOUR steam account, sounds like something doesn't quite fit.

If you're already logged in a browser it'll default to that.

Doesn't happen to me at least, perhaps a security feature?

If steam browser is not open and you click the email it directs you log in I believe. If you're already on it just goes (I think I've done that).

Looks like it was Antichamber. Worth the price so op may want to consider just buying another copy.

Write to steam Support (with evidence) That happen to me 1 time when i wanted to give a Present to my gf that i won (it was not a steamgift group if your wondering or in this website) I explain; gave both profiles and giveaway details Screenshots and link. after 1 week they took the game out of my steam and i gave it to her.

that happen cause of my fault cause it was the first time i won + saw a serial number lol, I was expecting to see the name of the game before a question of adding it to my steam account appear (wanted to make sure the key was working) so i could give it to her....... but yeah it just added it auto (Stupid me lol)

as others already said Steam can repack the gift and you should do that. You should also write the gifter and explain this aswell as SG support team.

^ this

Give the creator of the giveaway and SG support a heads up while you wait for Steam Support to clear up the mistake. It may lead to less confusion about why the gift is not yet marked as received, or suspicions regarding regifting/not activating won gifts.
