NEVER!!!
when a company stops selling that game
to demo the game
when you don't have money to buy the game
if it has denuvo but got cracked
YES!!

1) when a company stops selling that game
2) if it has denuvo (or in older times - StarForge) but got cracked
3) When company dont exist anymore - no money for the fat right-holders moneybags
4) When localizaton choices is poor. I mean, i want to play a game with subtitles on my own language but with original voices. No such option=pirate good repack when it is done.

I used to pirate games constantly when I was young and didn't have money. Nowadays, I rarely pirate games (although I still constantly pirate movies and tv shows). Last game I pirated a game was Mass Effect 3 with all DLCs (I have the game, but the DLCs are ridiculously expensive and I'm not doing that well financially atm). If I pirate a game and I enjoy it, eventually I still buy the game anyway. When I made the shift from pirating games to buying games the main reason for it was that I enjoy playing online games, and you're very limited on that when you pirate a game.

;_;

I know I have issues but you don't have to be mean about it ;_;.

Ot: Where I live, peeps are very friendly towards piracy so it is not that big of a deal to me. If you can afford to buy it, you should. Otherwise you are just a cheap asshole. /shrug

was not trying to be mean, just saying if I have $140 (which is what SAW costs in g2a) I would buy 10 or more games that are better than SAW

That copy on g2a is overpriced. Saw is about 65-80$ US, which is about the average price of most removed games. Very few break past the $200 mark, but then you have cases like Wolfenstein which is being sold at $1.2k (last known offer for a copy currently being showed around).

My guess is when there is no way I can give my money to the original developer. For example:

  • They don't sell it anymore and you can only get used copies
  • No other way to get the game unless I pirate it.

You could say if the game is not available in your region you could, but I try not to do it since there's a chance we can get it in the future (I hope)

I think it's legitimate to get a pirated copy if you bought the game but for some reason can't play the copy you own. Can't think right now of other things I'd consider legitimate.

if you already own it or if there's no other way to get it.

I had a friend pirate binding of Issac for me because i had it on the ds but my ds broke and i couldn't access it anymore.

I buy games to support developers, so that they can keep making games. Buying second hand via eBay or GameStop does not support developers.

If a game is out of print, and only available via second hand copies at exorbitant prices ($80+), I'd rather pirate it and use my money to buy games that actually support the developers.

Whenever.
Either pirate or don't. It's your own decision and you should not let people guilt trip you into thinking otherwise.
(And, honestly, I often have to wonder if the people claiming that piracy is evil have ever actually pirated anything. Because it sure as heck is not as easy and consequence-free as they think it is.)

Depends on what you pirate. Most of the time it is consequence free since you will most likely not get a letter unless it's something like an HBO series.

Convenience honestly, I played both rocket league and tabletop simulator with online cracked and once the cracks got patched I bought them immediately.

Whenever a person wants. Doesn't matter. Most of the time a person would have never bought what they pirated anyway so in that case there wouldn't be a lost sale.

I picked "when they stop selling the game", with the additional personal note of : "Or when you own a license to the game (have purchased legit) and your media got damaged".

That said, I own several copies of Sacrifice and Startopia. Plus GoG is great for DRM-free stuff because you can simply back up the installers directly~

I bought SAW in some brazilian Store 2 years ago and the game sucks... Dunno why people request so much money for a copy.

The worst part it's that I picked SAW over Silent Hill...
