Forget the word play on "ignorance", it's been done to death. Still, isn't the G from IGN supossed to represent "games"? I guess not. It was probably standing for "Garbage" all along. Imagine Games Network indeed. Just imagine and then receive crap instead.

People love to put all the blame on IGN for being incompetent, but I doubt coming up with a new bundle every week that isn't full of indie shovelware or constant repeats is as easy as it sounds. If your game is half decent you've really got no real reason to bundle it unless you desperately need a bigger player-base or more exposure, doing so is a sure shot way to have your game sell for pennies on grey market sites though which has become a bigger issue than it used to be. I think the only way they could counteract that would be to have the keys expire, but there would be sooooo much backlash if they did that.

I wouldn't pay even a single penny for a gaming license with an expiry date. Backlash? Not only that, it would stop the concept of gaming bundles dead in its tracks. You might be onto something though. Afterall, nothing good lasts nearly as much as it should. Humble had more than a good run and I only regret not being their customer in the first few years of bundles. We're living the twilight years in this regard. And it's more than ironic that fighting against gaming piracy was the reason for creating affordable bundles in the first place and also, damned piracy of another kind (grey markets and fraud) shall be their inevitable demise.

Note, "have the keys expire" is not the same thing as "a gaming license with an expiry date". The first thing probably means, that there's a certain time to redeem the key on Steam before it expires, but once redeemed it would stay on your Steam account indefinitely. The latter would mean your license is only good for a certain time, which would be much worse. I think I'd be fine with redeeming or giving away keys I bought from a bundle within a certain time frame - if it leads to better bundles and makes it harder for gray market hoarders, but yeah people will complain.

damned piracy of another kind (grey markets and fraud)

Grey markets are not piracy - they are as they name suggests GREY markets. Not illegal, but not as intended either. They are people who bought the keys legally, and are selling them with a profit (like GameStop).
Do the game publishers like it? Certainly not.
But that doesn't make it illegal (same as GameStop).

The fraud story concocted by tinyBuild is complete bullshit, proven to be bullshit many many times.
There is no secret "buying games with fake credit cards and selling on grey marketplace" mafia.
It's all just a story told by tinyBuild to get some sympathy (and hurt g2a in the process).
I'm not saying they were never scammed by someone with a fake credit card - they probably did. It was just nowhere neat the scope the claimed it was, and it was their own fault:
They wanted to have their own marketplace because of greed, and didn't implement proper CC verification and fraud prevention.

The problem with that is that it would drive the prices on reseller sites even lower - which will hurt their sales even more.

Mark my words: on Tuesday we'll have the best bundle in months. Humble Sale will be finished. More than two weeks to next monthly. Autumn coming, which means more time to play.
Around this time of September we got:

  • Humble Very Positive Bundle 2 in 2017
  • Humble Jumbo Bundle 7 in 2016
  • Humble Total War Bundle in 2015

I have hopes for a good bundle. They have to make it up for the disastrous stamp event.

Low expectations.
Probably 3 games in tier 1, 2 games with software/coupons/filler in tier two,
and one or two games in tier 3 (with or without filler) with $2 wallet credit.

That's what I was thinking. The whole lineup was in the GMG charity bundles and has been on sale everywhere the last few months.

Exactly, I've seen crazy promos from Konami everywhere too. And obviously I failed to resist it, that's why I thought it would be a Konami Bundle. But apparently we were wrong.
Maybe in two or four weeks... ;)

It is sad to see what has become of one of the most iconic game companies of my childhood. After giving up the PC/console games market (except for PES) they are more profitable than ever by focusing on mobile and casino gaming. I do hope they will make a comeback someday, like Sega seems to be doing lately.

Yeah... Even after all their crazy decisions (Kojima, patchinko, ...) they are in excellent health. In their case, I still hope there will be a difference between what they are currently saying and what they will do in future. I was so surprised to see Zone of the Enders recently, maybe it's a good sign.

Well that bundle is not very special. Or maybe it's very special, depending on the definition of "special", I guess.

(Of note, TT:GotG is Limited Quantity. Is that a first outside of some of those expensive charity bundles?)

And it was only like 1000 keys if I recall correctly. They claimed they were experimenting and trying something new but really botched that whole thing and probably got a lot of backlash from it. Can't remember if there was another 'regular' bundle after that that had any game with a limited number of keys.

There have been limited quantities before in a few bundles, though it is rather uncommon. Mostly on big charity bundles. Anyway I wouldn't be surprised if the BTA drops after keys run out for Guardians of the Galaxy Telltale.
