can tf2 keys be somehow revoked? there's a huge trade i am about to make in two days worth of 100tf2 keys in exchange of some of my removed steam codes.

In case they manage to charge back the steam market/ third party website they bought the keys from after our trade is done.
Also is there's any sort of protection in case the traded keys were stolen from another user or bought via stolen cc?

EDIT 1: yes i know that valve does NOT support trading items for cd keys. but literally all traders does it.
EDIT 2: the buyer doesn't have any rep and their account is only 2 months old which is very odd for him to be buying removed games.
EDIT 3: the buyer has no issue with going first with the payment and he is okay with me using teamviewer to activate the games on his account. but what good does that do me if the tf2 keys gets revoked anyway. :/

from my point of view, anything tradeable can be revoked, and valve offers no protections for trading codes.

If they have no rep and their account is only 2 months old.. then you shouldn't be doing the trade. If they're trading stolen tf2 keys or bought them with a stolen CC or did a chargeback then yeah there's a chance of the tf2 keys being taken away. But either way, don't do that trade because if whatever your trading is worth 100 TF2 keys then it's not worth the risk if they have no rep

yea i agree. this trade is fishy as heck and i don't think it's worth the risk tbh.

2 months old no rep fresh acc and want expensive stuff?
He will take ur keys (will cry ur codes doesnt work while he activated keys on his main Steam acc already) boooo give me TF2 keys back or smth like that...
Basically he can buy TF2 keys on some third party site and make refund scam... but not sure if keys can be revoked then because then they are basically untrackable, doubt steam can track exact pieces from shady site and trade... basically yes can be revoked but never seen real case of such thing.

Person u trade with looks fishy... dont be impressed by "u make big trade" and think twice. Most of scams is cuz ppl got impressed and are "blind".
Rather wait and trade with someone legit.

well here's the deal. he's okay with me activating the games manually on his account using teamviewer. but i don't think that really matters cuz nothing can be done if he bought the keys using stolen cc.

hi there!

just for curiosity, with game cost that much?

about your question, I think its already ansewred by the other users, and yes, steam dosnt allow trades, or selling games, Γtems from trades can be revoked, and its important the rep of every user when you make trades, i dont make trades myself, so I dont know how it works in practice, but its basically a negotation, like any other, I think.

deadpool and a couple more removed games. (not advertising)
which is why it's really odd for a recent made 2 month old account with only 8 games to request such a rare removes.

I played deadpool, nice game!
my most wnated removed game is spiderman shattered dimension that I didnt buy at the moment it was avaible, and now it very expensive on gray markets.
Maybe someday it comes back, deadpool comes back for a little time, but I lost my hopes some time ago already.

how ironic. shattered dimensions costs around 100 tf2 keys same value of this trade.

last Time I chequed, there still were gifts for latam, about 22 csgo keys at that Time.
yes, i know that with More Time un.avaible, the most cost.

but its give me bad idea to pay to much for that.
i like to colect games, but im not one of the persons with that level of money.

btw. sorry for my basic english

yea i remember good old days were removed games were being traded for small amount of tf2 keys.
nowadays removes costs a fortune. for example blur gifts are being sold for 500k each. i can't imagine someone paying that for one remove.

also it's okay my english ain't perfect either xD

What people ask for on grey markets does not always mean it's worth it, as far as you find 1 crazy person buying it for that.

I will be you, i don't do the trade now, will wait the others trader have more rep (+20 min), and don't go first.

  1. Also about common item like TF2 Key, Gems etc, don't think these items will be removed because steam and tf2 win a lot of money with this trade item market fee (we could speak around 5000 euros each day), about revoked items i can't help because i ever trade TF2 Keys with +50 rep account, never get any revoked items.
  2. Becareful because you're removed steam codes could now be revoked / became dupe and not working now, on barter could do serach if the games you have have reported some recent duplicate / revoked steam codes
  3. Did you have a premium or a free account for TF2 ? if you have a free account, you can only have max 50 TF2 items in you're inventory, that good to know.

yeah i never go first with my trades unless the buyer is at least +200 rep since all i trade are removed games.

  • about the tf2 keys i found lots of people debating on whether they get revoked or not. the issue is i cold get a trade ban if they keys were stolen. which will still keep the keys in my inventory without revoking them. and i'd honestly prefer if they get revoked than i get a trade ban.

  • yeah i have heard of keys being revoked before for some game but valve and the devs are the only ones who can does it. for a specific reason only if the codes were stolen or generated illegally at least. thankfully i have never had such an issue before with all my trades and sells at some third party websites such as (Gamivo, Kinguin, G2A, etc).

  • yes, i do have a premium tf2 account not sure what it's maximum inventory limit tho but i'm sure it's more than +100 but there's always the backpack expander in case of emergency ;)

To me, TF2 keys are a bad thing to trade with. I mean,. who sets these trade prices anyway? How do you trade half a key?

Not to mention, not everyone has the ability to get them.

I'm convinced that, despite my lack of decent trade items, TF2 keys are the primary reason I can't get a trade anymore.

it depends really on what you're selling/buying.

who sets these trade prices anyway?

The buyers, of course.

How do you trade half a key?

You don't

Not to mention, not everyone has the ability to get them.

Everyone can buy them from steam for 2,10€.

TF2 keys are the primary reason I can't get a trade anymore.

Why is that? You should be able to find a trader for every "decent trade item" as long as it's worth something. TF2 and CS:GO keys are used a lot because they don't change value (much). As the only way to get them is by buying them from Steam, anyone who would try to lower the price would have to do so at a loss.

Your TF2 inventory can only hold 50 keys at a time, just FYI, unless you expanded it yourself. The trade will not successfully go to your inventory if it's going to exceed your item limit. Make sure the trade of getting keys to you happens first and that you have them in your inventory before you send off your game keys. For > 100 TF2 keys, you are going to need the expanded inventory, otherwise the trade on Steam will fail.

The way this seems to work is that you are going to be accepting a trade for TF2 keys, so you can just sell the keys as soon as you get them, basically turn them into Steam wallet funds, then you will not have to worry about the actual keys themselves.

Permalink

turning them into seam wallet funds won't really help if the keys were stolen. i could get a trade ban or worse a permanent account ban.
if there was no consequences to doing so then all scammers would just crate a secondary account to steal tf2 keys then gift it to their main.
so i don't think that would be such a good idea. but i appreciate your thoughts on this :)

I guess it's impossible to tell the source of the TF2 keys and whether they are legit until you get your hands on them. Since this is not really something that you can easily confirm and that the other party seems to have no trading history, I would hold off on the trade, to say the least.

Hmm, didn't know there is limit. Have to remember that if I ever trade some of my old gifts...

Permalink

Yeah, that's the separate inventory tab from your usual Steam inventory, and unless you play the game and expand your in-game backpack, you can only carry a total of 50 items.

Main reason some traders prefer to deal with tf2 keys (or crypto) is the inability to revoke it. I could be wrong though but I have never seen a case of tf2 keys being revoked. If you do ever decide to trade with this person, shady he is or not... if he does go first and gives you the tf2 keys... at least the chances of you losing them are very low.

i have thought about trading in crypto. it's easy to use for the most part and whether or not he used stolen cc in the crypto it cannot be charged back as all the transaction are done anonymously. by far this is my best option to make this trade sorted out.

since he's okay with teamviewer:
make him add steam funds with CC and watch him buy 100 keys from the market
wait until the chargeback time limit expires (how long, depends on card and bank)

ridiculous, i know. not bulletproof, either (on the chance bank still sides with the customer)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

well, cc could be stolen and i'd still get the 100 tf2 keys and the ban rip.
besides i think the limit for chargebacks are from 60~90days.
the best option for me is to get my funds through crypto

Maybe try to exchange a few TF2 keys for the smallest game of the lot, and see if everything goes well (and he goes first).

From what i know, once the TF2 keys are in your inventory, it can't be taken back, and TF2 keys as a system won't vanish like that.

well, if it's true that tf2 keys can't be revoked then my best guess if the tf2 keys were stolen (regardless the amount) i'd most likely get a trade ban.

Okay so an update on what happened. (two weeks later).
When i offered them to pay with crypto they agreed but in the end they canceled the trade cuz the crypto site asked to provide his ID.
(to be fair i can't call em a scammer or anything just because he called off our trade in the last minute).
so yeah assuming he was a scammer or anything that proves crypto is the best option to deal with these type of situations.

Also a quick Q&A regarding the TF2 Keys being revoked or not.

Q: Can TF2 Keys be revoked in general?
A: Yes and No. you see, It differs on how the keys were acquired.
If the keys were bought from 3rd party site then no, the keys cannot be revoked whether they were charged back or payed with stolen cc.
However if the keys were brought directly from steam market itself then yes, the keys can easily be revoked by valve whether they were charged back later or bought using stolen cc and possibly a trade ban may accrue.

Q: I'm suspicious of the buyer. What to do?
A: So simple. Don't trade with them or get them to pay in crypto.
