not sure if greenlight gives free keys to everyone who votes on a winning title, or if only some game devs do that?

and if its only some games that will give keys to everyone who thumbed up the game.... does anyone know of a list someplace cuz i want to like them all whether i hate the game or not lol

No, it doesn't happen on most of them. To be honest, the only ones I've know of have involved users buy a copy elsewhere first, and getting a Steam redeemable key at release in the Steam store.

Of course not. Developers intend to sell their game on Steam, not just give it away for free to everyone who clicked the button. The Grennlight question is "Will you buy this game if it were available on Steam?", even.

^Yep.

Besides, the developer doesn't even see who votes yes or not...we're all just numbers to them.

You know, if getting free games is your only intention, you should probably just stay away from Greenlight...

Although some developers could decide to give free keys if you buy their game elsewhere and it gets greenlighted (most of them actually did), what you actually do when voting Greenlight is telling steam "yes, i'd like to buy this game if you published it"...

So, unless you:

  • 1) Buy a game on Desura or Devs official website (usually cheaper than Steam day-1 release)
  • 2) Developers of that game offered to give Steam keys as soon as it's greenlighted
  • optional 3) IndieGameStand could be a good place for starters, also check http://thegreenlightbundle.com/

You get actually nothing (except the chance to buy it).

Are you serious? Pretty sad indeed... And no you aren't getting shit, buy it. If you want free things: go play flash games, most of them are free. Google it.

some do, there have been groupees bundles who offered such, but that's up to the dev. And I'm sure they gave groupees permission to post.

that is provided you have bought the bundle , then you would get a steam key when the game is greenlit

No, none of them do that. That's ridiculous. They don't even know which people are voting for their games.
