Everything is about money, specially when it comes to pros. However everyone can't win in a cosplay competition, so some do it for exposure and fame. Covers are a huge thing too. Not to mention fanbases and such.
That is why some wear revealing stuff and some go more of a quality and lore friendly. Those two pics show two completely different areas. Third area would be amatures, but neither of these represent them. Specially not the second one.
So in end I would say that accuracy of lore isn't what drives either one of these. It's what brings them fame and profits. ;)

There are some people who just cosplay in a lazy way meanwhile other cosplays are just epic even if they are wrong

I prefer Cosplay that is casual or nice like this one over cosplay that is just meant to attract attention by showing off their body Though if they are cosplaying a character that shows off a lot of skin it's understandable, but trying to make every cosplay sexy is unneeded.

I personally don't care much about cosplay, but do enjoy seeing good looking women, so of the two images in the OP I'd prefer the first.
To me cosplay can be impressive if there is some acting involved, when it feels like the cosplayer really makes a character come alive, but just wearing costumes is just wearing costumes. That is, if the costume looks like it took a lot of effort to construct I might be impressed by the work, but still not by the fact that someone is wearing it.

at some point in time cosplay partially turned into boobs show. simple men want to see boobs even on a pikachu (because it boobs are always interesting and pikachu is not) and women can spend less money on costumes and at the same time show their bodies =). win-win.
p.s. obv. the 2nd cosplay is way better.

When it comes to cosplay the more accurate it is the more I like it, regardless of how revealing it is or isn't. I also don't have problems with nudity or revealing outfits since nudity is the most natural form of being. The whole taboo on nudity makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

So true, it's only because some religious people forced their silly views on society centuries ago. Nobody had any problems in ancient civilizations like Rome or Greece. Good thing we have things like sauna to teach us being naked is perfectly natural and doesn't have to involve anything sexual.

Not that I voluntarily look at such cosplays; only when someone else points them out. Methinks I feel guilty or embarrassed to look at a lady's cosplay because her curvatures are presented? Also, the amount of revealing skin is more than asked for...? What I mean is does a person needs to show the waist when the character in actuality has clothes covering the waist? I mean no harm to anyone, but if I did please forgive me.
So for visualization, I provided two pictures that relate to Warhammer 40K space marines. The first picture(top) is a cosplay I feel as uninteresting. The second picture(bottom) is the one that I find appealing. I guess accuracy plays a role; how accurate is the cosplay to the character in-game.
