OVERALL: Very Positive (38,407 reviews)

Yeah, this kind of crap shouldn't be allowed on Steam!

Oh, trust me, I have played Chivalry for a looooooooooooooooooong time to know all of its problems. :P Besides all the nerfings and the exploits that players use, these are the worst devs ever, since they never care about fixing the bugs and they never care to add more things in the game - they were even doing competitions and offering rewards to modders in order to get a cheap new map, rather than making them themselves. And these aren't even the only problems about this game.

I trust you have spent a lot of time in the game but are still disappointed and think it's a bad game. This happens a lot. Would you really say it's an objectively bad game though?

Comment has been collapsed.

If you remove the nerfs (especially whenever some kids were crying because they were dying too much), the bugs, the exploits, the devs, the toxic community, the power-crazed server admins, the archer limit, the zero work done on this game, the imbalance between classes (because they are very unfair), the teamkillers, the mindless kicks, and the glitched maps, then ok, it's not the worst game ever - it's just a shitty game. :B But trust me when I say you'll hardly ever find worse devs than these ones. They've abandoned this game, so don't even think of paying to get it.

Sounds like it's more of the social stuff surrounding the game that's bad than the actual game. It's not really my type of game though :)

okay, so lets just remove the fact its a multiplayer game and look at the bones of it instead of the hacks, exploits, toxicity etc?

oh, yeah, its a multiplayer game. O____o~

Chivalry was great fun on the noob servers. Once you hit a specific rank, you got thrown out of them, and people began spinning like ballerinas.

Would have been a great game otherwise.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep, that's a totally correct comment. But the game still needed to have a lot of things fixed.

Permalink

I don't think dev will ever fix those bugs/exploits :/

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, because they're incompetent and can't even make anything by themselves, but make competitions for modders to make them for them for cheap. xD

A bit surprising, but then again I completely forgot of this game's existence at this point. With a peak of seven players today, it's safe to assume the game's completely dead.

I'm afraid I can't help you with this one. I only use Enhanced Steam personally.

Enhanced Steam has 99% of the SteamDB features you need, so the SteamDB extension is much less necessary than in the past.

If you feel you still need it, just disable any of the features in SteamDB that conflict with those in Enhanced Steam, and you're good to go. Which features are those? As I said above, most of them.

Yes

I don't think that will work, though. It's only for keys. These promotions are claimed directly from the Steam Store page. Although going to the game's steamdb page during the promotion and being logged on Steam using a browser might work.

You're probably right. I'm not thinking straight and just remembered this fairly new thing.

Too bad and a little weird since you're actually logged in from an app that they have total control over. I take it we're not able to buy games from the app either?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes from the app you can buy game and activate from your inventory but not start the download of a free game

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Odd restriction. One would have imagined that you would be able to activate free licences if you are able to buy games. Oh well

Permalink

You definitely can. Expect permanently free games, those require actual client, temporarily free are added from store.

You don't have to start the download of the game to get it for free so you can get it from your phone, use your browser or steam app, just click on install and that's it, it's yours forever.

Maybe. There are some free games that can be claimed without the need for the Steam app to be launched. We won't know if this is one of those until tomorrow.

It seems most negative reviews are written because of the non-existant player count. So it might become an enjoyable game if more people start to play, and getting it for free is a nice incentive. I'm looking forward to see how this will evolve.

The game looks great and I've heard lots of great things about it. The big issue is there isn't enough people playing it which really doesn't make too much sense honestly all things considered. I think this is a great idea and will hopefully bring in a decent pop for the game.

yeah, it's so awesome whenever a game flops and a studio potentially goes broke. best thing ever, right? you know, sometimes you're really just a jerk...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Best thing ever, love that words - came from your mouth (or fingers) though. Natural selection might not be the best words, but it's the fitting one.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you on this one. This is a studio that makes quality games and it is not a good thing that the game did not sell well. There seems to be a significant risk when it comes to multiplayer games though, and even if a game is good it doesn't mean that it will find success.

Oh and if natural selection really was a determining factor then there would be far less trash on Steam. Instead what we often have is a bunch of crap that is only there because of the trading cards. It's the game equivalent of what happened in the movie Idiocracy -- the opposite of natural selection in fact.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope.
Natural selection means the one survives that adjusts best to the situation.

If there is a high demand for crap with tradingcards, then this crap will survive.

If a game has not been sold well, there are a few options:
a) It was just to expensive for what it was. (if the crap with cards always stayed at 1$ with no GAs or bundles noone would buy it)
b) The game itself is just bad (I know taste differs, so "bad" in the sense of "not liked by majority", which is not a bad thing in general)
c) Was badly advertised.

Well that's just you. There are plenty of people who feel differently otherwise the same thing would have happened to Chivalry. The story was quite different there. Anyway, when it comes to multiplayer games these things are just very hard to predict.

I heard about the game, just forgot about it. It's a niche game that probably didn't get as much attention as it needed to get decent sales.
