I heard I can upgrade my tier 1 to tier 2 by paying extra money. How can I find out what the bta was when I purchased it?
Or do I have to beat the new bta?

You have to beat the new BTA

Just put in a few cents and HB will tell you how much you need to BTA. You have to BTA for the price when you purchased the bundle, so sometimes it's just cheaper to buy a whole new bundle.

That's a good tip as I thought bta was locked at moment of purchase.

Thanks this worked. I got it for the lower bta from last week!

It was tested and it seems you need to reach the BTA of the moment of purchase (this info is apparently saved in the purchase information). So if you get a good price and stock up on 1-dolar tiers for later, you can get good BTA prices later. (Although HB tends to put an account on a temporary hold if they buy a lot of 1-dollar tiers within 24 hours.)

You don't need to beat the new BTA if you purchased Tier 1 already, it locks in the BTA price at the time you purchase. To upgrade to Tier 2, login to your account, click on Purchases, find and click on the specific bundle, and there should be a link on the page that says "Like what we're doing? Click here to increase your order amount". Click Custom Amount, put it at $1 or something and press the tab key, it will tell you how much more you need to add to get to the next tier.

Wow I didn't know that. I will remember that for future bundles I might have interest in.

BTW, thank you for knowing what you are talking about. I didn't realize so many people were ignorant of how BTA locking works in Humble Bundles, until I saw the previous responses in this thread. Wow.

Keep in mind that this only works until the bundle is over.

You can still boost the payment for another 7 days after a bundle ends (assuming this feature is not disabled for it).

Why does it suggest that I add $6.88 to the Humble Indie Bundle 16 to get the BTA games even though the bundle is already over? Weird...

I believe you can still increase the amount/purchase a new tier up to a week after the bundle ends (it used to be 30 days), but I'm not completely certain about the length of time.

One notable exception is when you grab something for free and it gives you a page for the bundle where you can then increase the payment to buy the rest of the bundle. That does not lock the BTA. You have to actually pay something to lock it.
