Would you like it?
The biggest issue that I see with this is that some people would probably continuously @ the support people because their ticket hasn't been answered in 30 minutes. Once you put in the @ feature, you have to have a lot of trust in the users to not abuse it and spam other users. The only way that I could see it implemented properly is maybe giving it to people that donate to their patron page. I like the idea, but it might be a bit of a pain to actually make it functional and not abusable.

how about your can only tag your friends on Steam. Syncing friends on steam is the same as syncing games, non?

I have no clue, honestly. If it does work like that, then it would be a cool feature and a neat way to work around potential abuse.

It just seems like it would greatly increase the number of reports because of either "spam" or something similar. I don't think it's worth the amount of tickets that the support team would end up receiving. It's an okay feature, but I don't really see it being useful when you could just use Steam to message the friends that you'd want to message. Unless you're able to @ anyone on the site, which would be pure chaos.

Always wanted this feature: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/U3zqc/mentioning-another-user
Maybe if we make enough noise, this will get implemented some time one can dream!

Or maybe they just call the cops for us. It's an option!
Sg is perfect as it is and work very well as it been built for, so i don't think that they'll have the motivation to do any change for something that is fine... But here we are both dreaming! 😆

I've seen the suggestions years ago (and I believe I was for it as well), but it was pointed out as above that the feature could get abused. Now, my question is, if it can be abused and such a huge bother, how come so many online communities use that feature? Sure, I can see there could be a few flaws with implementing it in Steamgifts - however, I certainly do believe the pros outweigh the cons.
As a compromise, I would implement a system which can be opted out from so that you cannot be mentioned if so you wish. Alternatively, limit mentioning to whitelisted users or something similar to that.

Hi,
I don't know why it can be useful for me but it can be useful for many others for many reasons.

Hi,
Again.
You can call a friend to an "Invited Only" giveaway, mark him on a meme or even summon him to fight side-by-side on some argue.
My time is over, tchau!
