Just worked here. USA.
Not sure if I needed to add a payment type, but I did add PayPal.
Also got the error osztihun mentions, instead of a confirmation ("Error: something happened on our end" or something like that.) But the game was on my XBox Account page after.

Added a screenshot for where to go to input the code, since I wasn't quite sure if I needed to go to Checkout or Add to Cart first (you... don't?).

Confirmed still work

the redeem page indeed show "Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help." but when I checked my XBox account the game was registered in my Library (is that XBox player called it?) as PC game

I have it there too, but when you follow the links further, to view in Store it comes up as needed to be purchased, so I can't install it...
Oh well, its a freebie, either they fix it or the don't....

I got the same thing, shows that I have it on the site but through the MS Store app where I usually install games it doesn't show up at all.
