has anyone tried it yet ? as for now I just have some Overlord, counter-strike and half-life musics in that stuff, yet I own some "soundtrack included" game editions like the collector of Strike Suit Zero, but it's not there. just overlord, cs and hl.

it's been a while peeps wanted valve to do something for music and it's quite deceiving as it is right now

My Payday 2 soundtrack doesn't appear too, is weird the way they did it, they could do a better job detecting all soundtracks.

Latest Steam update.

Mouse over "Library"
Click "Music"
Enjoy once again a terribly badly executed update by Valve. :P

I'm liking it so far, though it's really rough around the edges. I wish they'd given us the ability to rename the albums - I have two OST ones for example. Not to mention that I don't own To the Moon's soundtrack yet it's in my library (I can't play the tracks).

So it's Steam Music supposed to detect your soundtracks? I just imported my whole music library when it became available in the beta....
Anyway, nice feature, but I don't see myself using it unless someone finds a way to make it scrobble tracks

Audioscrobbler is highly requested on the forums so it's probably going to happen.

There were more highly requested things in the Steam's history (disabling popups, better library, more skins/better custom skins support) but they didn't give a F. So it's probably not going to happen in the next 10 years. Sadly.

are you sure you downloaded the ost that are missing? all ost on steam are dlc and you can't download them without downloading the games.

This. I wish they would make them separate.

I played a song back in beta and decided aimp3 is still my favorite, even if I have to use alt+tab. I mean, I do have 8 Gb of ram, alt+tab should not be a problem for at least a year.

I'll wait till they add Spotify support, I heard there was a contract between VALVe and Spotify but it was probably an unfounded rumor... I don't think I'll ever use it though. I don't like playing a game without its original soundtrack, it's like watching a video of it, you lose all immersion...

I'm completely opposite :) I turn off all in-game music, rather the ambiance of the environment.

Sometimes games don't have ambient sounds. And I think playing a game that's completely silent can quickly become boring. :P

It will never be better than a program made for playing audio, so I'm going to stick with foobar.

i think its potential usefulness for me is if there was an api that games could use to play anything in your steam music collection. it'd be kind of cool to have the radio in gta play my music for example. of course games where there's a soundtrack that ties into the gameplay wouldn't use the steam music api, but some games the music doesn't really matter so you could easily substitute your own.

pretty sure the real reason this exists is for steam os, but even on my htpc i'm still going to use foobar.

Some GTA games (at least San Andreas) already have an option to play your own music in the radio. You have to set it up first though.

IMO, it sucks since you have to download the full games to use the soundtracks, what a waste of space. I'll just keep running winamp in the background.

Short tutorial, because I had trouble figuring it out, too.

Go to your settings.
Click music.
Click "add".
There you can select folders to scan for music.

What a crappy feature. Its not showing all soundtracks but the one from installed games.

I think I'll be using this a lot to play my game music over the music for the games I play. The music player crashed and closed Steam today when I played a certain track, even though that file plays fine in MPC and VLC, though.

Edit: It also cannot find all of my music, just one subfolder per subfolder.

Still no shuffle all. Album art is still screwed up for tracks without an album. Still dropped.
