What does a reroll bring for the GA creator though?
Only for multi-group GAs I'd guess, but never heard of such a case being allowed.
Deletion before finished is always possible ofc. Depends on the specific case whether or not to do that.

Hmmm.. does this mean we'll have a fight tonight? If so, please kind sirs and ma'am, proceed to the Jell-O filled pool in your underwear so that we can have a good show. ^___^

Can't we just provide the contestants with edible underwear?

oh, that can be irksome. I skipped joining a group for that reason once, but also let it go and un-bl'ed another one.

Personally, I would probably remove that user from my BL, let the GA runs its course hoping that said user wouldn't win (why deny other nice people the opportunity to get an interesting game?)... take advantage of the GA's description to explain why I'll leave, also create a goodbye thread in the forum linking to the GA (for the sake of not repeating myself, because I'm freaking lazy) and when the GA is over, give the winner their prize and finally leave the group. But that's just me. And maybe I love drama. And maybe Mully's reply is the perfect and easiest solution. You decide, Jim. Or let your cat make the decision for you.

I guess I know what this is about. I'd suggest that you contact Lengray about that rule. I didn't even know that we had it, till today.
No idea why you mind that specific person, but I agree that an enforced unblacklisting is silly. Especially now, when blacklists work both ways.

maybe to try to enforce a drama-free environment in the group (or so everyone in the group has a chance to enter all giveaways for it. (happy group, oh joyous days)

people don't see the giveaways unless they check the group giveaways page or links are actively posts. sometimes it's a shame when you're in a group and you're excluded but you're not entitled to anything anyway. everyone feels a little different, though, about it.

the blacklisting working both ways doesn't fix the problem of someone in a group being excluded from group giveaways though and if some user brings it up, it generally causes conflict since it brings it to attention. people could ask the user directly, but often you have to add the user on steam or ask in public. might be ignored unless they're actually reasonable despite blacklisting you. (sometimes people block you on steam so it lowers the chance to be able to contact them that way as well)

so maybe to try to be conflict-free, I guess???? or maybe it's really about giving away. it's a mystery.

though if someone is going to be as bad as they seem maybe they can be asked not to be such a dick but who knows how much of one they are in this case. I don't know why a group would tolerate the user if they're really super rude.

super tolerant except when it comes to blacklisting?? I don't know the group but I'm just making fun of the subject for no real reason.

Nice theory. Pretty much falls apart though. And be it just because exactly this thread proves that forcing members about their blacklists, certainly isn't "conflict-free".

well, it's mostly so nobody can complain about being blacklisted in a group and missing giveaways which might force mod intervention. I suppose users could complain about it too but then they would have to just acknowledge it's part of the rules. maybe 'mostly-conflict' free is the right phrase instead.

I would not unblacklist the user, especially not if you feel so passionate about it that you create this thread (no offense), and if the group in question forbids you from still having the blacklist then I'd suggest that you'll "forget" about unblacklisting them until the GA is over. If that alone is grounds for you being excluded/kicked from the group, or if you leave by your own account, that's up to you. To summarize; keep the GA running, "forget" to unblacklist them, profit. I wish you and the cute cat the best in your blacklist endeavours.

The status of the giveaway creator doesn't change upon his or her leaving a group. He or she is still the creator of the giveaway, not an entrant. However, here's how I look at the situation you posed (i.e. my opinion):

  • The giveaway creator has the right to determine which gates (if any) to put up for his/her giveaways, including a blacklist.
  • The giveaway group has the right to determine the rules for participation in their giveaways.
  • The giveaway creator may choose to delete the giveaway at any time prior to its expiration, and for any reason.
  • Deleting a giveaway to "get back" at a particular person or group would be petty and childish but within the rules.
  • Kicking a member from a group while there is an outstanding giveaway and/or leaving the group are personal decisions.

All of the above being so, and assuming the blacklisted person has already entered the giveaway, the magnanimous thing to do would be to finish the giveaway and make a clean, polite break. Even if the winner turns out to be the person you blacklisted, it's just one game, and then you'll be done with things and no hard feelings.
