I saw this picture before and lol'd, since I'm a hipster and a LOTR fan (wow so contradictory) and because I just thought Ian McKellan looks great in hipster glasses. I actually made it incidentally, I wanted to try a couple filters for something else I was doing, so I used this picture to test some of them out. I used the poster (i think that's the one) filter in PS and decided I liked the effect so much I'd use it as an avatar.

Its a picture of me when I was a kid doing prop comedy on my school. Found it funny so I started using it.
